THE INCONSISTENCIES IN REINCARNATION

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi,
Hebrews 9:27-28: “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many”
Those who believe in this logic claim life is a never ending cycle: at death a person is reborn into a new body as a divine act of justice with some being rewarded with a good life and others misfortune. This logic at some point exempts us from being accountable for our actions and portends a lot of danger to the human race. It is a legitimization of evil: for instance , imagine someone reincarnating as a mass murderer.
In Luke 23:43, Jesus speaking to the penitent thief beside him said in Luke 23:43 KJV  “Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” The word ‘verily’ is same as 'truly' , this means translation from the physical earthly realm into  the spiritual is a reality and if that be the case what part of this thief’s  soul will reincarnate on earth given that he was going  to be in paradise with Jesus.
In luke 16:19-31 Jesus gave a narrative on the afterlife, in it, a rich man was imprisoned in hell while poor Lazarus found a place in paradise with Abraham. Abraham used the clause a “great gulf fixed” vs 26 which in the Greek means: an 'impassable interval' to describe the fact that there was no chance of going back to earth to right ones wrong.  Therefore, the rich man’s request for him to be sent to warn his family on earth couldn’t be granted. Abraham’s presence in the realm of the dead reinforces the fact that Abraham has not been reincarnated into something else. In this scripture these three persons: Lazarus. Abraham and the rich man are all in this fixed state of the afterlife with no room for reincarnation. This does not mean God does not bring the dead back to life as in John 11:43, Luke7:12 among those considered as sons and daughters of Abraham (Lk13:16).
Teachers of reincarnation make reference to Malachi 4:5 and Matt 11:13-14   these scriptures do not in any way refer to Prophet John being the reincarnated Elijah. Rather, what the scriptures says is that before the coming of Christ ,God would send a prophet in the likeness of Prophet Elijah. This is confirmed by the prophesy about John in Luke1:17 , the word “spirit “ in this text is the Greek word pneuma which means: mental disposition, vital principle. Luke1:17 means ,Prophet John would be driven by the same vital  principle and mental disposition as Elijah.
In Matt17:1-13 the spirits of Moses and Elijah appeared before Jesus Christ  , Peter , James and John , proof they had not reincarnated in someone or thing. Moses’ body remains where he was buried.Reincarnation is an excuse to live in error, a trap by Satan to lure many into hell. After death comes divine judgment: it is through Jesus Christ that we are saved from condemnation.
