HOW TO OVERCOME EMOTIONAL DEPRESSION

Luke 15:18 ‘ I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.’
         True repentance requires a person not claiming any goodness of one’s own or trying to justify one’s  actions, but being  humble to appeal  to God’s  mercy.The fellow in Luke15 became a victim of his presumptuous disposition, he hated correction , criticism  and suffered losses,he was in great despair until he came to his senses and made a u-turn in repentance.God does not bless sin.He frustrates the ways of the transgressor (Prov.22:12) He says in Prov 13:15KJV "Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard."
      God should not be approached in self-righteousness, but with a humble heart. We are to put all of our faith in a Saviour, and turn from our wicked ways ( Acts 3:19,2 Chr. 7:14). Repentance is an indispensable part of salvation. It requires godly sorrow and a change of mind accompanied by corresponding deeds.
     Sorrow  may be godly in which case it leads to repentance and also ungodly as in emotional depression which may lead to negative health conditions and death .There is a place for sadness or anger in the formation of a godly character . Indifference to  sin is counterproductive  to developing a godly character. It is normal  to be sorrowful when one falls short.  Our sorrow is taken away when we completely surrender to  the Lord (Job41;22,Isa. 53:4).
        Ungodly sorrow is behind the suicidal tendencies across the world ; many persons wish they were dead. Repentance and trusting in God is the only cure for a life of grief. We receive forgiveness of sins from God through Jesus  Christ (Ephesians 1:7).
    Godly sorrows results in a positive outlook on life with great prospects and testimonies through Jesus. 
Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me for my sins against you, I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation, I receive him as lord and saviour and receive grace  to turn what was meant for my shame into a platform for my promotion in Jesus name.

On investigation it was discovered the church suffered from a vicious cycle of evil family  patterns. They were not enjoying the fruits of the salvation experience . An example of evil family patterns is that of King David who defiled Uriah's wife ,murdered him and his son Absalom murdered his brother Amnon (2Sam13) dethroned him and defiled his concubines openly (2Samuel16). His son Amnon defiled his sister Tamar (2Sam.13) and so on yet David was the anointed of the Lord....

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

Believe!”John 20:27 NLTBible     Faith is the guarantee of the manifestation an unseen reality . It is the reason behind the hope we have in God and the fulfilment of his promises. It is the substance ( title deed) of things hoped for ,the evidence of things not seen (Hebrew 11:1) .The Bible warns against not having faith in God. Lack of faith is equal to calling God a liar and untrustworthy.
