EMBRACE THE SIMPLICITY OF GRACE

John 5:4 KJV “ For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.”
The pool of Bethesda was the very opposite of what it’s names means which is the ‘house of grace’ in the Greek . Imagine the scenario; a hospital that only heals the first patient that walks into the doctor’s office. The scriptures says the place was full of sick persons , all waiting to be the first to jump into the water after the angel troubled the water.
The word angel is the Greek word ‘aggelos’ which means a messenger, pastor. These folks were at the mercy of the pastor much as it is today in many religious settings where people are made to go through harrowing experiences all in a bid to receive healing or deliverance from satanic powers because they fail to embrace the concept of the simplicity of the gospel .
Religion assigns the burden of salvation to man thus entrenching a slavery mentality in followers: the slave does not believe he or she deserves the good life : to them life is all about work, even when liberated they still struggle with the slavery mentality. This was the problem with the religious folks of Jesus' time; they had been slaves in Egypt for over 400 years and even after their emancipation, their attitude towards God was that of a master-slave relationship instead of the father-son relationship God desires through Christ. The love relationship presented through Christ requires a simple approach to matters of faith.
These folks at the well were more concerned about their efforts at pleasing God and were ignorant of the presence of Christ : the healer. So it is with many religious Christians. They are more about their religious duties than a personal relationship with Christ. This leads to a gradual drifting away from the truth of the gospel against logic (2Cor.11:3).
The Corinthians found it hard to accept the truth of the gospel from Paul because he appeared too simple , he was also a businessman engaged in tent-making; he preached without demanding money (miracle seeds) from his followers as a precondition to minister (2cor11.7)because the anointing is not meant to be monetized.

Jesus Christ demonstrated the simplicity of the gospel in John 5:8-9KJV, he told the sick to “ Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the Sabbath.” This was in violation of the Jewish law of the Sabbath that forbade any form of work including carrying one’s bed. Religion makes serving God a misery through its rules and regulations.Religion kept that man in bondage as long as he was part of the statistics for a great church attendance. Many persons take pride in being part of a large religious congregation even if lives are not being changed for the better .That was this man's condition until grace appeared in Christ.
