GOSSIP IS A HINDRANCE TO THE ANOINTING FOR PROSPERITY
By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
Prov 26:20 KJV “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out:
so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”
Eph 4:31 AMP “Let all
bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment
(anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander
(evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all
malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
Gossip is idle
talk or rumor, especially about other persons ,usually in a condescending or critical manner .It
also involves sharing of damaging secrets with the intent of causing a scandal
. Gossip is Satan’s weapon of choice in causing wars in nations and the
destruction of families .It is for that reason that God frowns strongly against
gossip and tattling (Psalm15:1-3) Gossips are in danger of condemnation
(Matt12:36,37,Jer 17:10)
As harmless as
posting a false information on social media may appear with it going viral, the
consequences are extremely damaging, resulting in loss of lives and hatred for
God. Most atheists claim God is the reason behind wars but in reality prov.
26:20 says gossips are behind wars the world over. It is for this reason that we should ask for
spiritual maturity to avoid those who engage in this evil . Prov 20:19 NIV “A gossip betrays a confidence;
so avoid a man who talks too much.” Gossips are usually idle therefore ,we
should seek gainful employment or engage in business , this shuts the door to
gossips (2Thess.3:11)
It is unchristian to speak evil of a person
especially those in government in their absence; those who do such are spiritually
immature. Titus 3:1-2 TLB “Remind your people to obey the government and its
officers, and always to be obedient and ready for any honest work. They must
not speak evil of anyone, nor quarrel, but be gentle and truly courteous to
all.” There are legal avenues through which
one can convey a message to them in case they are falling short .It has to be
done constructively and in honour , we owe those in power our prayers ; public office holders are
accountable to God and He will judge them for every misdeed while in office. Same with
preachers James 3:1 TLB says “Dear
brothers, don't be too eager to tell others their faults, for we all make many
mistakes; and when we teachers of religion, who should know better, do wrong,
our punishment will be greater than it would be for others.” Gossips promote hate and this is against
God’s will for His Church
Gossip is
destructive and unloving ; in 1 Samuel 24:9 King Saul’s men spread the rumour
that David wanted to kill him ; this led to Saul seeking to kill David , and
through a rumours Israel fell into the hands of their enemies ( Ezekiel 22:9)
as everyone became suspicious of their neighbour . Gossip destroys friendships and marriages, Prov
16:28 TLB says ” An evil man sows strife; gossip separates the best of
friends.” A gossip is described as an evil man and should be avoided by all
means , refusal to do so would lead to the compromise of one’s spiritual
defenses, God’s angels are under command to frustrate gossips therefore , being
in their midst could lead to hindrances to prayers and prosperity . Gossip leads to emotional
depression , illness and disappointments
Prov 15:4 “Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes
the spirit.” We should ask the lord to fill
our hearts with grace for reconciliation and love for humanity regardless of
our differences. As you receive Jesus
Christ as your lord and savior and read
this now , receive grace for overwhelming peace and love in Jesus name.
