AVOID SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS : THEY ARE A HINDRANCE TO PROSPERITY

1 Tim 1:4 “Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. “KJV 1Timothy1: 4-6

        The word ‘Fables’  is the Greek word ’ Muthos’ it means ‘fiction’ or Myth . “Primitive man conceives of the objects around him as possessing his own characteristics. Consequently in his stories, beasts, trees, rocks, etc., think, talk and act exactly as if they were human beings. Of course, but little advance in knowledge was needed to put an end to this mode of thought, but the form of story-telling developed by it persisted and is found in the folk-tales of all nations” ( International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia)

       The modern prophetic ministry has gradually delved into using  myth or superstition as a tool to make followers accept the prophet as being sent of God. Common fables or superstitious beliefs in African churches include humans transforming  into cats , snakes , birds , fish and causing catastrophe, others include women having their wombs tied to avoid pregnancy, peoples destinies padlocked or buried , Spiritual husbands and wives , eating and having sexual intercourse in a dream etc  .  Prophets have been known to be involved in movie productions depicting myth in other to reinforce people’s belief in fictions ; fables depicted in home videos are distributed in churches : this is preferred above sound biblical doctrine in most third world countries.

       These teaching have torn families and societies apart with many countries going to war . Your neighbor is always a prime suspect in any misfortune a person suffers according to these prophets . Brotherly love has been damaged as a result of these teachings , good neighbourliness and social security have been destroyed by followers of these teachings   Many persons have fled their villages as a result of this; consequently food prices have sky –rocketed by virtue of the absence of the youth population in agriculture who now flood the cities to escape phantom ghosts in their villages and the fear of being labelled a witch or wizard by a prophet or prophetess. People are made to go through endless deliverance crusades where innocent individuals are labeled as either witches or wizards that transform into animals and so forth.

    By subjective genealogy they claim a person could be poor because of the sins of ancestors :this is contrary to the scriptures, 2 Cor 5:17 AMP says “Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! (Ezekiel 18:20)

    Fables or superstition deny the place of logic in biblical faith and are a major reason behind the failure in the educational sector of underdeveloped nations where such is practiced. Critical analysis, theories, precepts have been jettisoned for fables and amazingly teachers of fables are quick to embrace the developmental strides of advanced nations who have attained such through investment in science and technology :God’s gift to humanity with a view to better our lot through research and development. Superstitious beliefs hinders research and technology ,2Timothy 3: 15 says ..study to shew yourself a workman approved of God..” Studying requires due diligence through research of facts and evidence. The prevalence of fables in our churches has led to a drop in the reading culture; a major reason for marital failure.

It is by knowledge gained through reading that we enjoy God’s blessings . Through the knowledge of God's word we know that goodness and mercy shall follow the believer in Jesus Christ all the days of his or her life regardless of the nightmares we experience at night  .We should be led by God's word and not dreams because they could be misleading and induce fear instead of faith in God. Superstition gives Satan control of our lives .
