THE PATH TO ACCELERATED PROMOTION

Matthew 18:4 "Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 18:1-5; Mark 9:30-37; Luke 9:46-48
Babies have a purity and humility that is absent in adults: they are helpless and fully dependent on their parents , trusting wholeheartedly .
A major characteristics of humility is a God-dependency and not a self-sufficiency. Jesus demonstrated the true meaning of humility through His selfless service to humanity .
This path of self-denial to greatness is exactly opposite to the world's path of self-promotion . Humility is part of God's demand for service and worship without which humanity will be non-existent . It is a demonstration of faith - that acknowledges God as the judge of the universe and the giver of promotion (Ps. 75:6-7) God resists the proud but gives grace (promotion by divine influence) to the humble (1 Pet. 5:5).
Humility is trusting in God and not in ourselves. It is usually easy to be humble when in a dare condition and difficult to be humble when we have achieved great success. It for this reason that we are expected to be accountable to a more experienced and older preacher , through whom we learn christian ethics which eventually rubs off on those around us.
The lack of humility by leaders is a reason for disorderliness in society; it is the unfortunate effect of modern business and Church-growth principles that places emphasis on quantity and not quality, that is why despite the explosion in the growth of religious institutions , crime rate is on the increase in society .This is contrary to God's plan (1 Cor.5:1-13) : it is for this reason that the bible warns against appointing novices in spiritual matters into positions of leadership in the church (1Tim.3:16). True Church growth is not measured by the multitude in our auditoriums but by how much less sinners there are in our communities.
Pride is self-sufficiency and self- exaltation while humility is self-denial and dependence upon God.We should daily seek for a humble heart through prayers and regular fasting and open doors for extraordinary promotions will be ours. The scriptures says in Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!
