HIS GREAT MERCY PROTECTS US FROM THE PLAGUE

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Ps 103:4 NKJV  “Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Ps 107:20 KJV “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
God is both Father and judge of the universe, we are accountable to Him in all we do and nobody can escape His righteous judgment. For the believer in Jesus Christ we have an advocate in him and he ever lives to intercede for us . We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ . The punishment that is due those who have rejected God was placed on Jesus Christ on the cross and he gave us his righteousness in exchange. We stand before God like persons who have never sinned because of the blood. We are justified in Jesus Christ.
Where sins are forgiving we should no longer suffer the consequences of sins. The consequences for sins are both spiritual and physical. The blood of Jesus Christ prevents the spiritual consequences and is not a license to contravene physical and emotional laws. John 3:6 KJV “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
The universe is governed by laws and the human race is driven by laws such as laws of physical science , economics laws , emotional laws ,dietary and other health laws , social laws which includes strategic laws in military warfare . Violating these laws have consequences that could be catastrophic to an individual or group of persons. There are individual sins and group sins (national)  Case in point was David’s violation of the law of strategic military warfare that does not allow a full disclosure of one’s military might . He committed a sin that was visited upon the nation. The nation was living in rebellion against God’s laws resulting in the overthrow of king David by his son Absalom.  The scripture says in 2 Samuel 24:1
"Again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, "Go and take a census of Israel and Judah 2 Sam 24:3 But Joab replied to the king, "May the Lord your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?" 2 Sam 24:10 David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord, "I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, O Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing."
The consequences of this national sin is same whenever a nation rebels against God , they are namely:  economic recession , a plague  ,national  insecurity (terrorism ,wars)  2Samuel 24:12-13, Ezekiel 14 :21 . David was given the choice of selecting among the three but he chose God’s mercy .  Satan seeks to kill , steal from and destroy humanity . He delights in our pains and sorrows. If it were not for God’s mercy the world would have been destroyed with no one left. The stockpiles of nuclear weapons if unleashed on humanity in a war could wipe out humanity but God’s mercy prevents this from taking place .  God’s mercy is a shield against disaster .
David appealed to God’s mercy when a plague began to ravage through the community resulting in the death of thousands . Rebellion against God results in the removal our immunity against disaster .  We cannot hate God’s word and enjoy His blessings.  The power for deliverance is in God’s word.    Rom 1:16 NIV    “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:”
Prayer
Heavenly Father , Forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation , I receive him as lord and savior and receive grace and immunity against the plague in Jesus name
