ENEMY DISGUISED AS FRIENDS

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Mark 8:30-33, "...But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men."
This is proof that good advice does not always translate into being the right advice. Peter's good advice  was Satan -inspired. This scenario  is a parallel of the serpent's statements to Eve in the garden of Eden (Genesis. 3:15) with God rebuking the devil in both cases : Peter and the serpent were mediums through which Satan expressed his wishes. He still does same through false teachers who use the witchcraft art of clairvoyance to foretell events and many have fallen victims with families fragmented and polarized through the activities of these so-called seers. Satan also works through some of our friends who oppose the truth of the gospel.
God - inspired visions or revelations always align with the scriptures. We are not ignorant of the devices of the enemy (2Corinthians ,2:11) through God's word we know that we are engaged in a spiritual warfare not against people but Satan who often uses human agents ( Ephesians 6:12).
Satan tried to discourage the Lord Jesus from saving humanity but he was revealed and stopped. There is a perpetual struggle against Satan and God's people  from which there are no vacations on earth,,his plan is to kill, steal from and destroy God's people .Our enemy goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter. 5:8). Those who resist the devil will see him flee (James. 4:7).
Jesus did not just get angry with Peter , that would have given Satan the advantage (James. 1:20). Anger when uncontrolled makes us ready instruments in Satan's hands . Turning the other cheek terrifies Satan (Matthews 5:39). We cannot win a spiritual battle with physical weapons like the olive oil, handkerchiefs , offerings, guns etc, its important we recognize who the real enemy is and fight with the prescribed spiritual weapons of our warfare (2Corinthians.10:4,Ephesians6:17-18).
Many religious folks believe that the higher echelons of the devil's spiritual authority require more power to rebuke or remove. That is absolutely not true . There is no demonic power, including the devil himself, that will not flee at the mention of the awesome and all powerful name of Jesus Christ when faith is put in that name. Hallelujah. There is unlimited power in His awesome name!
Seeking to substitute traditions of men with God's commandment renders the word of God and the power thereof inoperative. There is a clear cut distinction between the two and they can never be at par with each other.
Prayer: Heavenly Father,  forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation ,I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to destroy the works of the enemy in Jesus name.
