TRADING YOUR BIRTHRIGHT

2 kings 4: 13" And he said unto him,  Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast  been careful for us with all this care;  what is to be done for thee? wouldest  thou be spoken for to the king, or to the  captain of the host? And she answered,  I dwell among mine own people " 

  Genesis25: 29 "And Jacob sod pottage: and  Esau came from the field, and he was  faint: 30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed  me, I pray thee, with that same red  pottage; for I  am faint: therefore was  his name called Edom. 31 And Jacob  said, Sell me this day thy birthright. 32  And Esau said, Behold, I am at the  point to die: and what profit shall this  birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob  said, Swear to me this day; and he  sware unto him: and he sold his  birthright unto Jacob. 34 Then Jacob  gave Esau bread and pottage of  lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and  rose up, and went his way: thus Esau  despised his birthright."

 The word.' birthright' is the Hebrew word bekôrâh , it means : the primogeniture : the right of succession belonging to the firstborn child, especially the feudal rule by which the whole real estate of an intestate passed to the eldest son..It therefore , follows that there was the share for the second , third child and so on. Your birthright affects your welfare and that of your dependants.

    Every member of any given community has a birthright . These rights are enforced by angels ( Genesis32:24-29) Birthrights are transferable and can be usurped ( Judges9:1-57) 

We secure our birthrights by keeping them in God's care . This means being willing and obedient and honouring God with the fruits of our increase  . The widow in 2kings 4:13 was living in her family's estate and gave a portion to cater for prophet Elisha .

   God is not interested in a job or business which does not contribute to the promotion of his kingdom through the promotion of missionary work  (Haggai 1:1-11) , therefore , when the widow was dispossessed of her estate in violation of her birthright , God instructed the king to reinstate her estate. (2King8:5-6) . 

   Whenever , a politician offers us money to vote for him , we give him our birthright for the period that he or she will be in office , Like Jacob did to Esau, whatever amount of money given is the price for our healthcare, Roads, Education, Security, Salaries , pensions , security. Etc. The politician is at liberty to do whatever he desires to do to us and he will be backed by angels. If he or she is selfish , his or her tenor will be full of misery .That was what happened between Abimelech and the Shechemites in Judges 9. 

   God's people are expected to prayerfully guard the electoral process especially at the Ward level and pray for their delegates in their choice of party leaders because our future and destinies are at stake.  We should not sell our birthrights over temporary gratifications this is how great nations are built .

   Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for our salvation i  receive him as Lord and saviour and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit and power for godly leadership .Amen

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

Believe!”John 20:27 NLTBible     Faith is the guarantee of the manifestation an unseen reality . It is the reason behind the hope we have in God and the fulfilment of his promises. It is the substance ( title deed) of things hoped for ,the evidence of things not seen (Hebrew 11:1) .The Bible warns against not having faith in God. Lack of faith is equal to calling God a liar and untrustworthy.
