Speaking in tongues while meditating on scriptures is the most effective source of self-improvement known to the church , parts of its benefits are as follows:
a) It
is a source of rest and refreshing: “for with stammering lips and another
tongue will he speak to this people to whom he said this is the rest wherewith
you may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing.” Isa.28:11. if we
would spend a little time each day speaking in tongues, panic, stress, tear and
fear will be a thing of the past in our lives.
b) It is
an opportunity to give thanks to God in acceptable manner. Sometimes we get overwhelmed with the
feeling of gratitude to God for what He has done in our lives. At such time we
are unable to adequately express our
thanks and appreciation to God and also our words seems too weak to express the
reservoir of gratitude we feel within our hearts. Speaking in tongues gives
us a fulfilling experience to give God thanks. Paul says “ we can give thanks
well”(1st Cor.14:17) by speaking in the language he gives. This is the highest
form of praise worship and it is how we
minister to God in the spirit
c) It
is an expression of positive emotions. The baptism in the spirit is not an emotional experience, it is a spiritual one. Nevertheless our emotions
inevitably respond to the experience and become involved in it. “… my soul wait
for the lord” Ps.62:1. Our emotions are frequently stored by the subconscious
mind and we give expressions to them at the spirit prompting. Many Christians seek to deny or suppress
their emotions as though there were something evil or sinful about emotional
expressions. It is not unusual to feel that way. Emotional expressions are necessary for a healthy life.
When that expression is used and
encouraged by the spirit within us, we can be sure that this is the healthiest
and finest emotional expressions possible. When a husband and his wife are
filled of the Holy Spirit and habitually exhibit or manifest their Holy Spirit
inspired emotions while speaking in tongues ,the result is a marriage full of
excitement, peace that transcends human comprehension and joy inexplicable.
Both enjoy being best of friends.
d) It is a source of rest and refreshing: “for
with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people to whom he
said this is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest; and this is
the refreshing.” Isa.28:11. if you will spend a little time each day speaking
in tongues, panic, stress, tear and fear will be a thing of the past in our
lives.
e) It
helps our faith to grow. Speaking in tongues helps us to learn to trust God
more completely. Developing in the life in the spirit is a walk of faith. As we
move from personal edification to the larger body of Christ edification 1st Cor.
14:6, we grow from faith to faith.
f) We overflow with hope through the joy and peace : Speaking in tongues during a time of crisis is a ready source of joy as the Spirit floods our hearts with hope. (Rom.15:13)

As you receive Jesus Christ as lord and
saviour and open your heart to the Holy Spirit receive grace for extraordinary
excellence in Jesus name.
