HE LED CAPTIVITY CAPTIVE
By Rev Michael Benson

Matt 27:52-53 KJV “And the
graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came
out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and
appeared unto many.”
The is one of the most extraordinary
event that took place after the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after
His gruesome murder by the religious cartel of His time. The scriptures records
that the curtain of the sacred temple was torn from top to bottom (Matt27:51) , something
that would require so much strength to do , given the dimension of
the veil ( 20 m high, 10 m wide and 10 cm thick ) as thick as the length of your pen. .
Nobody was authorized to look beyond
the veil except the great high priest who only had access after much oblations
were made on his behalf and the worshipers. This destruction of the veil
marked the beginning of a new dawn for humanity. The partition between God and
man was removed through the painful but necessary sacrifice of the body of
Jesus on the cross.
Before now nobody was given the title of
saint as described in Matt.27.52. When Jesus died (figuratively) His blood was
presented as an instrument of atonement for the sins of all mankind from Adam to those
yet unborn. He descended to the zone of the spirit of the dead and preached the
gospel of salvation by grace to them.
These spirits have been legally bound by
Satan and spiritual death (separation from God) through the Law of Moses. The scriptures
says in Eph
4:8-10 AMP “ Therefore it is said, When He ascended on high, He led captivity
captive [He led a train of vanquished foes] and He bestowed gifts on men. [But
He ascended?] Now what can this, He ascended, mean but that He had previously
descended from [the heights of] heaven into [the depths], the lower parts of
the earth? He Who descended is the [very] same as He Who also has ascended high
above all the heavens, that He [His presence] might fill all things (the whole
universe, from the lowest to the highest). “Ps 68:18 KJV says “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity
captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that
the Lord God might dwell among them.” It is worth noting that rebellious folks
have a place in Christ under the new dispensation, there are no outcasts in
Christ.
Jesus disarmed Satan and his demons and
released all captives from the domain of death; and gave them the gift of the honorary
status of sainthood and access to the father. Those seen on the streets of
Jerusalem included the Jews who were promised entrance into the land of milk
and honey but failed in the wilderness due to their rebellion against Moses, thus
,God fulfilled His promise. In Christ, sinners are declared saints through His blood
Rom 4:5 AMP says . “But to one who, not
working [by the Law], trusts (believes fully) in Him Who justifies the ungodly,
his faith is credited to him as righteousness (the standing acceptable to God).
As you make Jesus Christ your lord and savior,
receive grace for deliverance from every oppression from the evil one in Jesus
name.
