CAN YOU BE TRUSTED WITH MORE RESOURCES ?
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
John 12:24 KJV ” Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of
wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it
bringeth forth much fruit.”
In this parable Jesus Christ explains
that the death of some things in our lives is necessary for improvement in life. The corn of wheat is typical of the gifts (knowledge, experience,
talents, skills, material resources) we have received of God and like the
corn of wheat they have the potentials for growth embedded in them and
they will remain unfruitful until planted according to the master's instructions . The power for multiplication resides
in the earth and is activated the very moment the corn of wheat makes
contact with the soil. The immediate outcome is usually not pleasant as the
scripture says: the corn of wheat must first die.
Death isn’t what anyone would consider
good but in this circumstance it is a must for there to be increase. It is the
fear of this proven and tested life principle that has kept a lot of people from
attaining their full potentials in life (Hebrew2:15). Certain attributes such
as impatience, bitterness towards others would have to die in order for us to see the
desired changes in our lives.
The power to prosper has been given to us (2Peter 1:3) and it is God’s
will that we flourish and be in good health emotionally and physically (3Jn1:2)
however, every desirable blessing is attached
to an act of obedience (Job 36:11,Isaiah 1:19). God will not withhold any good
thing from us .He does not withhold blessings
from us in other to teach us a lesson. Psalm Ps 84:11 KJV says”….no good
thing will he withhold from them that walk
uprightly ” the word uprightly is the Hebrew word ‘tamiym’ and it means to be sincere, complete, whole . One’s
sincerity, completeness and wholeheartedness in worship is a precondition to receiving from God just
as a doctor’s prescription has to be sincerely followed to the letter to
experience the desired medical result. Thus, poverty is not caused by witchcraft but the aftermath of the mismanagement of our resources. Holding back an offering when God says to give it is a common form of mismanagement among believers. Giving is a privilege and not an obligation. We are deprived of the desired peace whenever we act contrary to divine instructions.
Jesus said in Luke 19:26 "For I say unto
you, that unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not,
even that he hath shall be taken away from him." The insincere or wasteful
servants will have what God has given them taken away and given to another. We
shall stand before Jesus Christ to give account and all our actions will
be brought to the open; whether they were motivated by selfishness or directed
by the Spirit of God. Those led by the Holy Spirit will see their works enduring and will be greatly rewarded with
Joy (1Cor.3:13-15). When a good thing is done for the wrong reason, it is unacceptable before God; consequently we are not rewarded for doing good deeds ( Satan does good occasionally with ulterior motives) but for following the leading of the Holy Spirit (2Sam.6:3-7). Constantly meditating on God’s word makes it easier to identify and yield to His voice by faith .What is the Holy Spirit asking you to do now ?take action immediately .As you receive Jesus Christ as lord and saviour and read this now, receive grace for spiritual sensitivity and fulfillment of your destiny in Jesus name.
