DELIVERANCE FROM THE NEAR SUCCESS SYNDROME ( PART 2)
By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
“A fool utters all his mind; but a wise man keeps it in till afterwards; Prov. 29:11.
“He that is soon angry deals foolishly” Prov. 14:17
The “Near Success Syndrome” is mostly due to uncontrolled temper. Moses was a victim of the “Near success syndrome” which is a pattern of reoccurring failure at the edge of breakthroughs .He did not enter the promised land due to his uncontrollable anger. Anger hinders the anointing for breakthroughs (James 1:20). Deep-seated anger and bitterness destroys a person's finishing power and the will to live.
Habitually angry persons are prone to making terrible business ,relational and marital decisions. They are fearful ,without faith, double-minded ,unstable and uncommitted in their relationships (James1:8). Anger is learned and can be unlearned .We are admonished to avoid being emotionally involved with persons with deep-seated anger and unforgiveness.

It is difficult to repent when nursing a deep-sitted anger. Habitually angry persons tend to continue in their erroneous ways even if they had been warned about the consequences of their actions.
Wise men and women help others control their temper. The unwise help to fuel an already overheated situation by making unguarded remarks; however wise man and women seek for ways of reconciling aggrieved parties. They know: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Prov. 15:1. Also, “He that is slow to anger pacifies strife. Prov. 15:18.
Abraham wisely dowsed strife which arose between him and his nephew's (Lot) herdsmen, an example of how to handle cases of resource control and strife . “And quarreling arose between Abram’s herdsmen and the herdsmen of lot. So Abram said to lot let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine for we are brothers. Is not the whole land before you let’ part company, If you go to the right, I’ll go to the left Gen. 13:7:9
Abigail wisely pacified the anger of Israel ‘s king –to- be David, as he sought to kill her husband an example for us to follow: David said to Abigail, “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me may you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from arranging myself with my hands”. I Sam. 25.1 –35
It is better to forsake anger and pray that the lord replaces the anger we feel for one another with love, patience, meekness and forgiveness. When we have the love of God in operation, our resentments for one another is replaced with tolerance and reconciliation. Love is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs”. I Cor. 13:5. Niv. This is lead to less killings in society as the Word of God commands ‘’let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice; And be ye kind one to another tender-hearted forgiving one another, even as God for Christ sake hath forgiven you. Eph. 4.31, 32.
“But now you must rid yourself of all such thing as these; anger, rage, malice, Slander and filthy language from your lips… As God’s chosen people holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace… Col. 3:8, 12-15. Niv.
Though the “wrath of man” is to be rejected, there is a time for “righteous indignation” or godly anger, a time to speak out against evil, wrongdoing and injustice. But we must be sure it is God’s anger and not ours. Sometimes God expresses His indignation through the anger of man like Jesus did when he cleared the temple with weep in hand. John 2: 12-19. God used the anger of Samson to avenge against the Philistines. Judges 14:19; 15:14, 15; 16:26-30.
Being filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and regular fasting and prayers while meditating on scriptures is our best bet at overcoming anger .Temperance and long-suffering are fruits of the Spirit and it starts with making Jesus Christ your lord and saviour.
Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me for my sins against you, I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and ask to be filled with your Spirit and I receive grace to exercise dominion over anger and break the cycle of near-success syndrome in my life in Jesus name.
