DO NOT DROWN IN YOUR DREAMS
Luke 8:14 NKJV “Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who,
when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures
of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.”
God desires that we live the good
life in abundance and has made provisions for our needs to be met. His ability to supply our need isn’t predicated on the state of the
world’s economy or
other situations in life. We often plan based on our limited resources and this is in contrast to God’s plan for our provisions which is far
beyond what any man can phantom, He fed five thousand persons with two pieces of fish and five loaves of bread and nourishes birds that have no farms and grasses without a gardener.
He provides partners for animals in the wild and they give birth according to their hearts desires. If this can
be done for these lower class of creatures, what can't He do for His beloved
children?
God is all-benevolent, the scriptures says Ps
84:11 NKJV “For the Lord
God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those
who walk uprightly” . God will not hold back any good thing
from us under the dispensation of grace. Sometimes, we assume that it
is by reason of our ‘holiness’ that we are blessed with provisions;
that is absolutely not the case. We are blessed because of Jesus’ uprightness and our faith in Him qualifies
us to partake of the rewards of His uprightness, the scriptures says in Eph
2:8-9 NKJV “For by grace
you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone
should boast.”
The word ‘saved’ is a Greek word ‘sozo’ which means to be healed, protected, preserved, to do
well. Therefore, it is not on account of our individual ‘holiness’ that we do well in business, excel
in our jobs and marriages. It is through faith in the finished work of Christ
that we receive our daily supplies. The failure to understand this leads to failed dreams in the lives of persons who have shown a great deal of commitment and suffered hardship as a
result of their resolve to live the Christian life and out of frustration they soon
embrace the world’s view of ‘Heaven only helps those who help
themselves’. This logic
is unfounded and poor :why seek for heavens help if you can help yourself? It is illogical to help oneself, we can only be helped by someone
other than ourselves. God says He will help us (Isaiah41:10)
Whenever we allow the word of God in our minds get
chocked with the ‘thorns’ of life (the overwhelming desires
to be rich and longings for sensual pleasure), we tend to believe in our
self-righteousness rather than the righteousness that comes by faith in Christ: that's why many believe God's favour
isn’t fair.
We are blessed in Christ with equal
opportunities (Eph1:3). The word 'choke' in luke 18:14 is the Greek word ‘sumpnigo’ it means: to
strangle completely, literally to drown, to crowd. The word of God doesn’t get into our hearts to produce
faith for breakthroughs under this condition. When we set deadlines for
breakthroughs for ourselves while comparing ourselves with others, we soon
become discouraged, bitter and begin to drown in our dreams. Nobody wants to be in
a drowning ship and so we lose great opportunities and relationships as a
result. The period of waiting for a miracle is a period when we should allow
the word of God dwell richly in our hearts by constantly reminding ourselves of His promises through
intimate worship with songs that edify the heart (Col3:16). As you read
this now ,receive a lifting in Jesus name.
