INCREASE YOUR CAPACITY TO RECEIVE IN ABUNDANCE
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Matt 25:15 KJV “And unto one he gave five talents,
to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several
ability; and straightway took his journey.”
Each servant was given talents
according to their capacity to deliver;it was in accordance to their investment ability. Life is a business, Jesus said in Luke 2:49-50 NKJV “… Did you not know that I must be
about My Father's business?" The word 'business' is a Greek word ‘huperperisseuo’ which means to cause someone to
overflow with something, to be present in (greater) abundance.
We consciously or
unconsciously engage in the business of exchange of virtues spiritually,
emotionally, intellectually and materially on a daily bases. This is what played out in the
encounter between Elisha and the poor widow whose children were about to be taken as slaves (2kings4:1-7).
Elisha’s strategy to
get her out of debt was through oil retail business and it
required borrowing containers. There was a supernatural multiplication of the oil proportional to the capacity of containers. It stopped when she reached her mental limits on how to obtain containers;this is proof
that we receive breakthroughs according to our mental, emotional, spiritual and
material capacity .If she had engaged in capacity building, she would have acquired better business networking
ideas that would have given her more containers and more oil .This is the importance of education..
While waiting for breakthroughs invest in capacity building through networking; this is easier when we are
generous .Prov 18:16 NKJV says ‘A man's gift makes room for him, And brings him before
great men.’ Many are the
friends of a giver. Your gifts guarantee your future. There are three networks
we must build to secure our future: firstly, spiritual or faith-based networks
(Jer.3:15) , secondly, relational or emotional networks (Eph 6:1-2) and thirdly , material or
financial networks (luke16:9). We have to consciously invest in these networks through
exchange of gifts. This widow’s husband had invested time and energy while
working for Elisha therefore he was obligated to assist her. A similar incidence took place in
1kings17: 14-16 a widow had to share her last piece of meal with Elijah and
had a ‘huperperisseuo’ experience. She received uncommon
abundance in a time of severe economic crisis. Also in John 4:5-26, the scripture says Jesus was very tired and requested drink from a woman (John4:7) her willingness to give him water brought
about an exchange of divine virtue that eventually emancipated her community
from the bondage of sin. In 1 Samuel 9:3-27 Saul was a poor shepherd boy in
search of his father’s missing
donkeys , he recognized the need to increase capacity by building his faith
network and his understanding of this irrevocable divine principle led to the
recovery of the animals and his eventual coronation as the first king of Israel
through prophet Samuel.
When Adam ate from the forbidden
tree, he lost the capacity to dominate and was thrown out of Eden (Gen3:1-24); likewise when
Judas dipped his bread into Jesus' plate without permission, he lost his
place among the disciples (Matt26:23-25). Prov 11:24 NKJV says “There is one who scatters, yet
increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads
to poverty.” “And [God] Who provides seed for the
sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for]
sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in
active goodness, kindness, and charity]. Thus you will be enriched in all
things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as
it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God (2 Cor 9:10-11
AMP).
