HOW TO DECODE GOD'S WILL THROUGH CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Luke 22:10" And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into
the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water;
follow him into the house where he entereth in."While preparing for the Jewish feast of Passover and the disciples needed information on where the lord wanted it held. They were told to look out for a sign which served as the circumstantial evidence that was required to know God’s will concerning the task at hand.
This is one way through which we can know what God’s will for our lives. Spiritual information is more explicit unlike human language which is fraught with the crisis of meaning. Therefore, the inter-phase between the spiritual and the earthly realm requires comparing the unknown with the known. From the known we can safely deduce the unknown, as stated in Romans 1:20 AMP "For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], "what this means is that just as a balloon reveals the invisible gas contained in it, the invisible nature of God can be understood by the material objects in the world.
Circumstantial evidence are indicators pointing to a divine operation which could be interpreted through scriptures. The word of God is truth and should form the bases upon which all analysis of spiritual matters are made regardless of the language being used. The scriptures says in 1 Corinthians 2:13 AMP "And we are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the [Holy] Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual truths with spiritual language [to those who possess the Holy Spirit]." this underscores the importance of having the truth of God’s word lodged in our hearts before making comparisons. Most persons have fallen victim of demonic manipulations while seeking to analyze events outside the word of God and have done great harm to many through the misinterpretations of circumstantial evidences while seeking to know God’s will. For example , dreams about swimming in a river could have positive interpretations as in the case of prophet Ezekiel's ( Ezekiel 47:1-10 ) in this instance swimming speaks of the manifestation of healing virtue upon the church , unfortunately many African and South American churches often interpret water related circumstances to mean an evil 'marine spirits or mermaid attacks ' and this has led to the destruction of many lives especially women. Water is symbolic of the word of God, abundance and prosperity. The Spirit of God lives in us, therefore, there is no room for evil spirits in our bodies.We are sealed by the Holy Ghost.
There are contrary circumstances that requires taking a corresponding action such as in the case of Elijah and the dried brook( 1kings17:1-9) it was obvious that there was need for a change in perspective and in this case, he changed location. Also in Acts 20:3-6 Paul learnt of an ambush against him while planning on a missionary trip and that informed a change of plan.
We should be flexible in judging circumstances because God isn't bound to any one way in revealing His will. , we need to always put on our breastplate faith and love . The scriptures says in Ecclesiastes 11:4 AMP "He who observes the wind [and waits for all conditions to be favorable] will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap." The conditions where not right when Jesus fed the multitudes in Matthew 14:15-21 and Matthew 15:32-38. Faith doesn't require a favorable condition to operate, it is not limited by circumstances, through faith we change our world. It is the master key to living a victorious life.
