THE DANGER IN SELF-PRESERVATION
Luke
12:42 NLT” And the Lord replied, "A faithful, sensible servant is one to
whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household
servants and feeding them”.
Merriam-webster dictionary defines
self-preservation as : preservation of
oneself from destruction or harm, a
natural or instinctive tendency to act so as to preserve one's own
existence. God created man with
managerial skills designed to harness the vast resources on earth for the use
of humanity in a manner that is sustainable. Unfortunately , the activities of
man with regards to managing the earth's resources has plunged humanity into an
uncontrollable crisis of mismanagement and gross poverty.
The earth is the Lord's and all that is
in it and He has appointed man as an administrator of His estate .He therefore
, expects prudence in the management of His wealth in accordance to His will and not as we will. We should always seek to know what the Lord wants done with the resources kept in our care.
Finance managers are at liberty to invest client's funds as they deem fit in other to make profit, however , the funds are the exclusive possession of the owners. Any act of misappropriation of funds is considered a crime punishable by law and
they are expected to be accountable to the owners of funds. The estate
administrator or funds manager is
expected to be faithful as the scriptures says 1 Cor 4:2-3 NLT ”Now, a person
who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful
We are stewards of God’s
resources ( talents, wealth, abilities, spiritual gifts) and He expects us to
be accountable to Him . 1 Cor 4:1-2 “
……. as mere servants of Christ who have been put in charge of explaining God's
mysteries..” We cannot do as we please; therefore we are accountable to Him for
the use and abuse of these gifts .
Funerals are
reminder that we came into this world with nothing and will definitely live
with nothing and will give account to God for what we did on earth with His
resources. This is revealed in the
scripture on the man whose entire life was centered on self-preservation at the
expense of a wholesome relationship with God in Luke 12:19-21 NLT he said “And
I'll sit back and say to myself, "My friend, you have enough stored away
for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!"' "But God said to him, 'You fool! You
will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?'
"Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich
relationship with God."
Whenever the use of a thing is
unknown, its abuse becomes eminent. The ignorance of the purpose of God for what
has been given to us is the reason for the increasing number of abused victims the world over.
As you make Jesus Christ your lord and savior
and read this now, receive wisdom and
grace for proper management of the resources at your disposal to the glory of God
