REBELLION HINDERS GRACE FOR PROMOTION
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Ps 68:18 KJV “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led
captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious
also, that the Lord God might dwell among them”
The above scripture
says God loves rebels and has great plans for them. Rebellion is resistance against divinely constituted
authority. It is worthy of note that not all authority is divine .Any authority
that seeks to suppress the truth of the gospel is not of God and should be resisted.
2 Cor 10:5 KJV says “Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” therefore , we are not expected to be under
an ungodly authority . It is possible to have a Christian governing authority that
promotes ungodliness and a non-Christian authority that promotes godliness;
godliness is not a function of religion but the human conscience, Rom 2:14-16NLT
says “Even Gentiles, who do not have God's written law, show that they know his
law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They
demonstrate that God's law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience
and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.” Based on
the aforementioned scripture, rebellion is a function of the human choice and
it comes with consequences when targeted against godly authority.
People rebel for
many reasons one of which is a desire to be loved or heard, a child
raised in a home where affection wasn’t displayed by parents, tends to
become a rebellious adult; rebellion serves as a way a venting years of cumulated
anger, hopelessness and bitterness. Such persons never have a rational reason
to rebel. With this understanding, it is easier to help them overcome the
negative effects spirit of rebellion.
The consequences
of rebellion include the inability to get employed or be in a healthy business
or marriage relationship due to lack of trust, Prov 26:6 TLB says “To trust a rebel
to convey a message is as foolish as cutting off your feet and drinking poison!
.They struggle with academic work ,are unteachable and always presumptuous in a
marriage relationship Prov 17:10 TLB says“A rebuke to a man of common sense is more
effective than a hundred lashes on the back of a rebel” Rebels are prone to self destruction Prov
10:21 TLB Says “A godly man gives good
advice, but a rebel is destroyed by lack of common sense.” They are often exposed to danger Prov 22:5 TLB “The rebel walks a thorny,
treacherous road; the man who values his soul will stay away.”
Rebels are prone
to conflicts, fights and physical abuse in marriage because they cannot control
their temper. Prov 29:11 TLB says“A rebel shouts in anger; a wise man holds his
temper in and cools it. " They cannot make intelligent contributions in a
dialogue Prov 24:7 TLB says “Wisdom is too much for a rebel. He'll not be
chosen as a counselor! They often sound foolish as preachers and teachers Prov
15:2 TLB says “ A wise teacher makes learning a joy; a rebellious teacher
spouts foolishness.” They are easily
drawn to corrupt business Prov 17:7 TLB says “Truth from a rebel …are..
unexpected.” They care less about facts and argue blindly Prov 18:2 TLB says “A rebel doesn't care about the
facts. All he wants to do is yell.” They are a major source of trauma and disappointment
to their parents Prov 10:1 TLB ”Happy is the man with a level-headed son; sad
the mother of a rebel.” Rebellion gives Satan
the advantage over our lives (Eph2:1-2) only through genuine repentance, being
filled with the Holy Ghost while under the authority of a mature, principled spiritual leader then can
the yoke of rebellion be demolished.
As you receive Jesus Christ as your lord and savior and read
this now receive grace to overcome satanic obstacles in Jesus name.
