THE PORTRAITS OF CHRIST
Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
Col 2:9-10 AMP “For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the
Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the
divine nature]. And you are in Him, made
full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the
Godhead — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — and reach full spiritual stature]. And
He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and
power].”
If you listened to your inner self this
moment , you can clearly hear a conversation going on within you , the question
now is who is speaking to who? and with what are they speaking since you need a
mouth to speak? How many persons are involved ? Is there a mouth other than the physical mouth ? This
is what happens whenever you ponder on the question on the son-ship of Jesus
Christ : the Word of God (John 1:1).
The mind generates will-power which in turn
generates actions often manifested in creativity. Before an artist paints a masterpiece
he or she first visualizes , interacts in his or her mind thus generating the will-power
to bring into physical manifestation .Likewise, Jesus Christ is the mind of God
and just as you interact with yourself , God also interacts with Himself(Gen.1:26)
, it is characteristic of all living things . Chemicals interact with themselves
to produce extraordinary compounds which we enjoy today from foods to perfumes.
The scriptures describe Jesus Christ as
the word of God .God is one with His Word and interacts with His Word. The universe
was created through the Word of God; the Word is the Head of all rule and authority.
He is the only person that can give the true meaning of life. The scriptures describes
Jesus Christ as the illuminator Isa 9:2 NLT says “The people who walk in
darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness,
a light will shine.’ He is also
described as the Judge of the Universe who shall Judge all mankind on the last
day Isa 11:3 NKJV Says “His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall
not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; “
He is also described as the reprover Isa 11:4 KJV says “ But with righteousness
shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth” He
is the law-giver Isa 42:4 KJV says “He
shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and
the isles shall wait for his law.” He arbores lawlessness of any kind. No
system can thrive without rules and regulations. Rules liberate therefore,
there cannot be true liberty outside God’s laws. Jesus liberates us by giving
us rules to live by Isa 42:7 KJV says “
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them
that sit in darkness out of the prison house”. The teaching that says grace has
delivered us from all rules and regulations is erroneous and only leads to more
bondage (2Peter2:19).
Jesus is also described as the liberator (Isaiah 42:7) and burden –bearer
Isa 53:4 KJV “ Surely he hath borne our
griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of
God, and afflicted.” He is also our sin-bearer and intercessor (Isaiah53:5,12) His
vicarious suffering is the only logical way by which we can be guaranteed of
our salvation. The only cure to sin and condemnation is unconditional forgiveness
.No amount of religious devotion can save a person from imagining evil- which
is same as sinning ( Col 2:19-23,Matt 5:28,Eccl7:20). And since truth cannot
have two meanings, there can only be one Word of God , Which is truth
(John17:17) and only one savior (Isaiah 53:5)Jesus Christ.
As you receive Jesus Christ as your lord and savior receive grace and
freedom from all satanic addictions in Jesus name.
