HASTINESS DESTROYS GREAT DREAMS

By  Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Luke 14:28 "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost,  whether he have sufficient to finish  it?   Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish  it, all that  behold it begin to mock him,   Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish."
The building of a house involves a lot of technical details which mustn't be compromised if a durable structure is to be achieved.  Most master -builders will allude to the fact that the most critical aspect in the building of a house is  the foundation stage. Any error at that stage may require starting the building process all over again. Most errors at the foundation stage are as a result of hasty conclusions.
The human life is like a building and it is very common to see a lot of uncompleted projects in the house of God. Most times such inconclusive ventures are said to have been caused by demons, witches and wizards,  however,  taking a critical look reveals the contrary.  It is the lack of requisite knowledge brought about by hasty conclusions that leads to abandonment in marriages, businesses, jobs, ministries, academic pursuits etc.
The scriptures says God’s people are destroyed for lack of requisite information (Hosea4:6) and are gone into bondage as a result of the lack of understanding because teachers have become weary of instructing ( (Isaiah 5:13). Teachers recognize that for a lesson to be learned a thorough approach must be applied in the explanation  of precepts,  it is from this that concepts are derived that becomes part of a person's life guiding principles.  Teaching requires patience and in a world that is bankrupt of patience most teachers have resorted to being preachers. The latter doesn't require patience but an ability to captivate one's audience. Character can't be formed from preaching but through teachings.
New believers are synonymous with hasty decision making a trait found in the world where quickness and over eagerness to act is seen as sign of smartness or wisdom.  Their response to issues are usually without taking recourse to sound reasoning while considering all variables. They can be reckless and take action without prayerfully doing due diligence.  This is why the casualty rate in all spheres of life is highest among this spectrum of Christians.  The hasty christian easily falls into the devil's trap and are full of regrets due to losses suffered ( Proverbs 29:28). Being in a haste removes us from God's protective shield because of the compromises such persons make while in a haste (Proverbs 25:28).
Hastiness is a byproduct of competitiveness and the result of misplaced values which only occurs when those we call close friends are persons who haven't made a commitment to live for Christ. The enemy uses these persons to create a sense of low self esteem in us. It is the process of trying to be relevant amongst them that leads to recklessness and impatience. The man or woman of faith does not make haste (Isaiah 28:16) . Hastiness is synonymous with a person's lack of faith in the efficacy of the word of God.
Those engrossed in hastiness often initially tend to be ahead of other moderate christians but soon end up falling short with a life full of regrets and bitterness .The scriptures says in   Prov.21:5 "The thoughts of the diligent   tend only to plenteousness; but of every one  that is hasty only to want. " The hasty end up behind the pack. This is common with those struggling with issues bothering on anger management( Numbers 20:10-12). Proverbs 14:29 AMP "He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who is hasty of spirit exposes and exalts his folly." When we trust the lord to meet our needs according to His will, we are better placed to receive from Him, and while waiting for the manifestation of our hearts desires, we should pray for His peace to take rule over us . When we turn to the Lord our regrets are turned into everlasting blessings that would impact positively on the life of others as the scriptures says in Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to  them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."  As you read this receive peace and understanding for stability and access to supernatural abundance in Jesus name.
