GET RICH QUICK
Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
‘ the trustworthy will get a rich
reward but the person who wants to get rich quick will only get into trouble.’
prov 28:20
‘ he that believes shall not make
haste ; Isaiah 28 : 16
The deceitfulness of riches is that
which says money is a guarantee to a lifetime of peace and
happiness. Thinking this way undermines the effect of God’s word in a
person’s heart. The scriptures says “ .the cares of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches ,and the lust of other things entering in , choke the
word and it becomes unfruitful . Mark 4 :19
The unbridled cravings of the so
called good things of life is what drives men in to committing all kinds of crime in a bid
to accumulate riches. The scriptures says in 1Ti 6:10 “For the love of money is
a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray
from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows “
The spirituality of a Christian viz a
viz his or her commitment to the things of the lord such as worship,
discipleship, ministry and evangelism is
determined by their passion for money it
is for this reason that we are admonished in Heb 13:5(ASV) to “ Be ye free from the love of money;
content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise
fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.”
Satan would have us believe that money solves all problems and is the
reason for the imbalance in society and the increase in crime rate. The bible says a man will steal because of
poverty; most crimes are committed by poor fellows who cannot afford a meal a
day. They are ready recruits in to criminal gangs.
Money gives a false sense of joy, love, peace and righteousness. Money in itself is not evil, it is the love
of it that leads to troubles. ‘But people who long to be rich fall into
temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them
into ruins and destruction. For the love of money is at the root of all kinds
of evil , and some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and
pierced themselves with many sorrows .’ 1 Tim. 6:9-10
Riches cannot guarantee
salvation ‘riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living is a
safeguard against death.’ prov.11: 4, whenever God is kept out the equation of
our money getting schemes .we eventually gather wealth for others to spend, the
scriptures says “.The vain heap up wealth for someone else” psalm 39 :6 God
wants us to be contented with what we have . A happy family ,a good
relationship with your neighbour , peace of mind through a harmonious
relationship with God has more value than all the money in the world
It is common argument that it is not
possible to serve God and be materially rich, and this has discouraged many
from being committed to the service of God for the fear that it will lead to a
life of poverty. This is a lie from the pit of hell for cases abound of men
dead and living who control great amount of wealth and at the same time were
totally committed to the propagation of the good news across the globe. King
Solomon was one of such; Abraham was so rich that he could afford a private
army strong enough to invade another country. The bible in Gen 13 .2 described
Abraham as very rich in cattle in
silver and in gold. In 1 king. 10. 23 we
are told that King Solomon was the
God’s promise to the
uncompromisingly righteous is that ‘They themselves will be wealthy, and their
good deeds will never be forgotten” psalm 112: 3. This is the direct opposite
of those who acquired wealth illegally. They occupy slippery places [ a life of
uncertainty] and suicidal . They live in constant fear of terror. God despises
their display of wealth.( psalm 73 ).
Enduring riches and honour comes
from God . God gives riches and the power to enjoy., the scriptures ‘riches and
honour comes from you alone, for you rule over everything….’1chronicles 29 : 1 And
the riches from God stays with you for the rest of your natural life on earth,
1 chron. 29: 28 This is a product of wisdom acquired through God’s word. 2 chr.
1:12. God transfers the wealth of the wicked to the righteous , ( 2 chr . 17: 5
). Being wealthy without God exposes one
to a life of anarchy psalm 52; 5-7 The scriptures says in Eccl5:13-14(WEB) “There
is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: wealth kept by its owner to
his harm. Those riches perish by misfortune, and if he has fathered a son,
there is nothing in his hand. As your read this now, receive grace and wisdom
for financial excellence in Jesus name.
