TAKEN
Matt 24:40-41 KJV “ Then shall
two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women
shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”
The word ‘taken’ is the Greek
word ‘paralambano’ it is a clause from
two words ‘para ‘ which means to draw near and ‘lambano’ which means to seize or remove , it means to receive near to assume an office . The scripture
describes an event reminiscent of a Sci-Fi movie, where believers would literarily
be removed from the earth into heaven. It is likened to the event of Noah’s
era .
The scriptures says Matt 24:37-39 "When the Son of Man returns, it will be
like it was in Noah's day. In those days
before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings
right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn't realize what was
going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way
it will be when the Son of Man comes.”
This process is also known as being ‘
caught up’ 1 Thess 4:15-18 says “ We
tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns
will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from
heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the
trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
Then, together with them, we who are
still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.”
The phrase ‘caught up’ is also used to
describe the birth and ascension of Jesus Christ in Rev 12:5-6
“ She gave birth to a son who was
to rule all nations with an iron rod. And her child was snatched away from the
dragon and was caught up to God and to his throne.” The dragon is Satan ; at
Jesus’ birth he tried to kill him by commanding
that all male children born at that moment be killed and after his crucifixion He
was received into heaven where He now rules . This process is described in Luke 24:51 KJV “ And it came to pass, while he blessed them,
he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.”
This is what will happen on the day
of the second coming of the lord prior to the seven- year rule of the’ Beast’
also known as the ‘Tribulation ‘ . From Jesus’ judgment a person can only be
saved by his or her personal commitment and relationship with the Lord. Being
married to or friendship with a born again believer is no guarantee of one’s salvation. One cannot
be saved by association or by emotional involvement and just as one cannot take
medications on behalf of a sick friend likewise salvation is a personal affair.
One may say what about the sanctification
of the unbelieving husband by the believing wife in 1 Cor 7:14 KJV “ For the
unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is
sanctified by the husband:” this does not mean that salvation can be guaranteed
by a marriage to a believer , marriage is not a precondition for salvation
rather it is belief in God’s saving grace through Jesus ' vicarious atonement . Jesus said Mark
16:15-16 "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone
who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe
will be condemned.” Romans 10:9-11says “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is
Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God,
and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” An non believing husband is sanctified the
same way a car, church building ,new born baby, business is dedicated to the lord, that does not mean
they are saved.
Prayer : Heavenly father forgive
of my sins, I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised for my salvation and may
I be found worthy to partake of the blessings in your kingdom I pray in Jesus name.
