CONFESSION DOES NOT NECESSARILY LEAD TO POSSESSION

CONFESSION DOES NOT NECESSARILY LEAD
TO POSSESSION
The profession of our faith
John 11:14 "Then said Jesus unto
them plainly, Lazarus is dead."
The dictionary defines “Confession” as a formal statement
of religious beliefs (Merriam-Webster dictionary). The scripture says in Heb
10:23 KJV “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for
he is faithful that promised;)” In the
bible ,the Greek word ‘homologeo’ which
means: to assent, i.e. covenant or promise, acknowledge through giving thanks.
One of the principles adopted by teachers of faith is the concept which
says in other to receive a miracle , one has to confess in other to receive ,
meaning , we would eventually receive what
we keep declaring as ours. What this implies is that the fellow that keeps
saying ‘I have a Rolls Royce car’ will eventually receive a Rolls Royce car likewise,
the single woman who keeps saying ‘brother John is my husband’ would eventually
get married to brother John. But it isn’t always the case.
What this presupposes is that God is obligated to grant all our hearts
desires which also indirectly means that our desires are the same as God’s
desires. But this is contrary to what the scriptures says in Isa 55:8-9"My
thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord."And my ways
are far beyond anything you could imagine .For just as the heavens are higher
than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher
than your thoughts.” God’s plans and ours aren’t the same. He only takes
actions that are in concordance with His will, the scriptures says in Eph 1:11…”we have received an inheritance from God, for he
chose us in advance, and he makes
everything work out according to his plan.”
It is imperative that in our pursuits, we seek God’s will early in all
that we do. Whatever success story achieved outside God’s will eventually would
not stand the test of time because His will ultimately prevails. Thus, confessions
outside God’s will are not only discouraging but confusing and dangerous; so
many lives have been lost as a result of this. It sends a wrong signal about
the integrity of God’s word.
Many persons have quit church as a
result of this personal error. If we receive what we confess then Jesus who had
gone to raise Lazarus from the dead wouldn’t have been able to do so haven
earlier declared that he was dead in John11:14 , this was contrary to his profession which was
expressed in John 11:11 Then he said, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen
asleep, but now I will go and wake him up." He professed Lazarus was
asleep even when He literally confessed his death. The truth isn’t always the
fact according to biblical faith. Factually Lazarus was dead but truthfully he
was alive in Christ.
Things aren’t always what they seem to
be that’s why we need God’s counsel in all that we do. Sometimes in other to
allay the fears of those with weaker faith we may downplay the reality of our
situation as in (2 Ki. 4:20, 26) that does not mean
that faith always denies the fact of a situation. The confession that is based
on biblical faith is founded on an unshakable conviction premised on a personal
covenant with God and acknowledged through joyful thanksgiving and confirmed
with overwhelming peace.
As you read this receive wisdom for righteous counsel with respect to
the fulfillment of your heart desires in Jesus name.
