RECEIVE HEALING FROM A BROKEN HEART

TRUE HEARTFELT WORSHIP  HEALS  BROKEN HEARTS
Mark 14:6” And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.”
KJVMark 14:3 "And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head."
The word ‘good’ as used in this text is the Greek word  ‘kalos’ and it means ‘beautiful’, valuable or virtuous (for appearance or use, and thus distinguished)’ . Jesus Christ in this verse demonstrated the importance of aesthetics in the presentation of the message of the kingdom. The dictionary defines beautiful as “possessing qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind:”  Man is naturally drawn to anything beautiful that is why Satan uses the attribute of creation in propagating his vices. Beauty is a quality of Godliness that has been corrupted to the detriment of humanity.
The scriptures admonish us to worship God in the beauty of holiness. Heaven is God’s holy abode and it is the epitome of beauty in its entire ramification. Holiness is a beautiful experience to be celebrated in Christ. The woman in Mark14:3-6 had worked all her life to make herself look beautiful in the eyes of the world. The scriptures say all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom3:23).The word ‘glory’ is a Greek word ‘doxa’ which means ‘praiseworthiness’. Sin creates a sense of the lack of praiseworthiness in man that’s why so much is invested in the cosmetic industry to look good or appear praise worthy. But unfortunately, praiseworthiness is a thing of the spirit. True beauty is  a thing of the heart (1Peter3:3-5). Makeup cannot heal or conceal  a broken heart. Only Jesus can heal a broken heart. Mary had earlier had an encounter with Jesus when he raised her brother Lazarus from the grave and she knew if Jesus could raise the dead, He could definitely heal a broken heart.
she had invested all her wages in the pursuit of love and praiseworthiness and all she could get was emotional abuse and dishonour by men who were only interested in what they could get from her. The more she pursued praise and self esteem from men, the emptier she became until she met Jesus. Here she was before the most influential figure in the community and despite His position; she was given unfettered access to His presence against the Jewish culture that relegated women of easy virtue to the background. Luke’s account of this event says in Luke 7:39  NIV “When the Pharisee ….saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is — that she is a sinner." Jesus Christ instantaneously gave this woman a sense of worth greater than what she had been pursuing all her life and in response to his love ,she gave him her most prized possession .
True worship should evoke the giving of one’s best to the service of God like this woman did as commanded in Mark 12:30 AMP” And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment.  [Deut 6:4,5.] . Her gift announced Jesus’ presence wherever He went people perceived the perfume. It made Jesus more appealing for that moment.
People get offended when we worship God this way. If that woman was a billionaire, what she would have done to Christ is best left to the imagination. Judas, one of Jesus disciples, was quick to register his indignation by openly criticizing this woman’s act of benevolence claiming it was more beneficial for the perfume to have been sold and the proceeds given to the poor but never mentioned how he gave out his most valuable possession to the poor as an example for others to follow.  Like most people who get upset every time there is a beautiful addition to the house of God, Judas did not really care about the poor. We shouldn’t be deterred by such display of self righteousness but rather focus on the benefits. That woman experienced deliverance from all that had weighed her down the very moment Jesus said “leave her alone” and so shall it be said to you as you read this now in Jesus name.
