LIVING THE BLESSED LIFE

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
John 12:24 KJV ” Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
In this parable Jesus Christ explains that there is life after death in every situation we find ourselves as believers. The corn of wheat is typical of the gifts (knowledge, experience, talents, skills, material resources) we have been given by God and like the corn of wheat they have the potentials for growth locked in within them and until planted where the master has instructed, it remains unproductive. The power for multiplication resides in the earth and it is activated the very moment the corn of wheat makes contact with the soil. The immediate outcome is usually not pleasant as the scripture says the corn of wheat must first die.
Death isn’t what anyone would consider good but in this circumstance it is a must for there to be increase. It is the fear of this proven and tested life principle that has kept a lot of people from attaining their full potentials in life (Hebrew2:15). Certain attributes such as impatience, unforgiveness would have to die in order for us to see the desired changes in our lives.
The power to prosper has been given to us (2Peter 1:3) and it is God’s will that we flourish and be in good health emotionally and physically (3Jn1:2) however, every blessing we desire to see made manifest in our lives is attached to an act of obedience. The scriptures say that God will not withhold any good thing from us therefore it is unscriptural to say God is withholding a blessing from us in other to teach us a lesson. God says in psalm Ps 84:11 KJV”….no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly ” the word uprightly is the Hebrew word ‘tamiym’ and it means to be sincere, complete, whole . One’s sincerity, completeness and wholeheartedness in worship  is a precondition to receiving from God just as a doctor’s prescription has to be sincerely followed to the letter to experience the desired medical result.
Jesus said in Luke 19:26 "For I say unto you, that unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him." The insincere or wasteful servants will have what God has given them taken away and given to another. We will one day stand before Jesus Christ to give account and all our actions will be brought to the open, whether they were motivated by selfishness or directed by the Spirit of God. Those who followed the dictates of the Holy Spirit will find that their works will endure the test and will be greatly rewarded with Joy (1Cor.3:13-15). When a good thing is done for the wrong reason it is unacceptable before God; consequently we are not rewarded for doing a good deed (even Satan does good occasionally with an ulterior motive) but for following the leading of the Holy Spirit (2Sam.6:3-7).  Constantly meditating on God’s word makes it easier to identity and yield to His voice by faith .What is the Holy Spirit telling you to do now ?,take action immediately .As you read this now may your senses be activated to recognize and yield to the Holy Spirit in the pursuance of the fulfillment of your destiny in Jesus name.
