HOW TO SECURE AND ENJOY GREAT RELATIONSHIPS

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
“Love shall cover the multitude of sins” 1Peter4:8
To love means to be compassionate and it is most needed when an offense is committed or when a person is helpless. Love is a power from God :it is His nature and the strongest force in the universe and the highest level of spirituality. It is what sustains the human race: God's love preserves us through His mercy.
The sufferings in the world are as a result of the rejection of God’s plans for humanity.  We easily rebel against that which is holy and godly and embrace evil. The result of our choices is everywhere for all to see; heart breaks, diseases, death, destruction, sadness, poverty etc.
Our actions towards God deserves our total annihilation, for the soul that sins shall die, but God’s love for humanity constraints Him from executing maximum punishment on us. God is merciful to us: “The Lord is long-suffering and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression” Numbers 14:18.  The writer of the book of Psalms declares “the Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy “Psalm 103:8
He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.  For as high as the heavens are above the earth,  So great is his love for those who fear him; Psalm 103:10-11.  “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for his compassion never fail.  They are new every morning great is your faithfulness” Lamentation 3:22-23.
We should always ask that God's mercy takes control over our hearts, influencing the decisions we make towards each other. It is easier to revenge when offended.  We always seek for justice and retribution whenever we are offended.  But on the contrary God loves mercy more than “justice” and retribution.  “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgive the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?  You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy”. Micah 7:18. Being merciful is not a sign  of personal weakness but a demonstration of tremendous inner strength ,it is not for the faint-hearted.
Jesus was accused of being too ‘sinner friendly’ by the religious bigots of his time, and his reply to their accusations was, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” (Mathew 9:13). Injustice hurts and leads to painful losses ,however, God sees our pains and restores peace. Married persons should learn to have mercy on their partners, getting a new wife or husband would not prevent you from being hurt again, because to err is human, the new wife or husband isn't perfect too. Evil is not destroyed through vengeance, but rather through mercy and truth (the applied word of God) “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged”  Proverbs 16:6. And “Where sin abounds, grace did much more abound.”  Romans 5:20.
God often refrains from justly punishing us and would want us to do likewise.  When the Israelites offended him in the desert his plan of destroying them was replaced with a plan of salvation.  “Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.  Exodus 32:14. And “he will not always accuse, nor will he habour his anger forever, he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.  “Psalm 103:9-10.
God mercifully forgives our sins; he knows we are no match for him “you will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depth of the sea” Micah 7:19 “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Heb. 8 12; In a bid to overcome certain challenges our weaknesses tends to take the better part of us through vengeance and we fall short of God’s commandments for living and suffer guilt.
Whenever the enemy desires to afflict us the mercy of God rises up to our rescue; because God is especially merciful to those who love and fear him; “As a father has compassion on his children so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;” Psalm 103: 13, The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him (Psalm 103:17).
As you make Jesus lord over your life and read this now,  receive  grace for overflowing love and victory in Jesus name.
