REJECTION DOES NOT MEAN THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
John 15:25 NKJV But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.
Jesus is all good and all benevolent, and is the personification of Gods divine nature, He could not be faulted in character. His ministry on earth is well summarized in   Acts 10:38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. Despite these qualities He was and is still rejected by many.
Rejection happens to the best of persons and it is not necessarily any fault of theirs. Man has so many ways of venting  frustrations and one of them is through rejection. We are gregarious by nature with an innate desire to be part of a social group, rejection hampers our desire to belong. This disconnection often leads to emotional trauma and is detrimental to our well-being. Rejection creates a sense of loneliness: the feeling  that we are not loved. In other to gain acceptance we sometimes lower are standards by committing to persons who do not truly love us. Lives have been lost as a result of this fatal error. Rejection sometimes has violent outcomes and leads to recklessness due to a low self-esteem and depression.
Judas Iscariot was one of Jesusdisciples , he was arrogant and self-opinionated and disloyal (John13:2-26),as a result ,he began to suffer from a false sense of rejection. This was all the enemy needed for him to be used as a tool to betray Jesus , which he eventually did and committed suicide out of depression and overwhelming guilt. Self-blame is very destructive when dealing with depression. We can overcome  rejection by quickly coming to terms with our condition while recognizing the importance of those assigned to care for us and also acknowledge that despite our situation, Gods love for us has not changed (Romans8:33-39) we should take advantage of the loving care of loved ones and any other available emotional support system ,it's an easy way to be on the path of recovery from the pain of rejection. Being part of  Godly christian group and closeness to its leaders helps overcome rejection;that is the importance of attending church meetings regularly(Heb10:25). Those who reject us do so at their loss. You need a pastor you can call upon at anytime.
Believers in Christ will suffer rejection from non- believers; Jesus said in Matt 10:34-35 NIV.. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." The 'sword' as mentioned here is used figuratively to mean a bitter separation between those who believe in Him and those opposed to Him. Despite the chasm, believers in Christ are at peace with the heavenly Father by grace through faith in Christ (Rom. 5:1) therefore, seeking to impress God by carnal religious means is unprofitable and self-destructive .Man-made religion cannot give peace because oneness with God cannot be attained through the rituals of religion (Heb10:1). Though the scriptures enjoins that we pursue peace with all men (Hebrews12:24) it also tells us of the possibility of being rejected because of our holy stand with God . We should not be deterred by this but resolve to keep teaching the gospel for this is the will of God for us with rewards (Jn15:16).
Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive grace to turn every attempt to humiliate me in to a testimony of uncommon promotion in Jesus name.
