SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN WITHOUT DOUBT
Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
Mark 11:23 "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith".
The word 'doubt' is the Greek word ' diakrino' which means to separate thoroughly, to withdraw from, or oppose; to discriminate ,hesitate ,contend ,stagger, waver.
To better understand what doubt is let's imagine what happens when a child is ill of a very high fever and is taken to the hospital and because of the level of the fever the doctor decides to administer an injection and tells the child to stay still .The child agrees to be treated by the doctor but not in the manner chosen by the doctor and so he hesitates, withdraws, opposes, contends with the nurse, wavers at the treatment plan and staggers away and separates himself from the doctor while complaining about the pains from the fever and his fear of needles . The child eventually dies of the fever not because of the absence of a cure but because of doubt . This is exactly what happens when we doubt God.
The Mountain in our life could be financial ,health, Job, business, political, ministry that God has called you into or a marriage relationship. Like that child, we have our chosen method of solving the problem which is ineffective and leads nowhere meanwhile God has a method that requires temporary pain but eventually cures the situation.
Faith says we should talk to the mountain not about the mountain. Murmuring and complaining about a situation instead of speaking to the circumstance is a sign of doubt. The breakthrough is in talking to the mountain, this requires a painful commitment to accept the word of God as true while forgoing other arrangements despite their temporal benefits. The scriptures says of the faith of Moses in this regard in Hebrews 11:24-26 NLT "It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward."
Speaking to one's mountain may require doing so under unpleasant circumstances but the reward far outweighs whatever pain we had to suffer to see our desires come to pass. These pains include being mocked by close relatives and friends and isolation from the company of the so-called successful.
This is part of Satan’s strategy to make us doubt God’s Word and to try to get us to believe his lies (Gen 3:1-6) like he did to Eve in the garden of Eden ,he seeks to undermine our simple, childlike faith in God's word . 2Cor 11:3.The devil speaks to us directly through dreams, visions, false prophets and teachers (1John 4:1) and through projections into our thoughts.Whenever we pay regular attention to him ,it will lead to overwhelming fear and anxiety therefore each thought should be scrutinized and challenged with God's word,if it doesn't agree, we should jettison it "so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes"-(2 Corinthians 2:11 NLT) God’s word gives us the faith to speak to our mountains ,it has been proven and tested by others and it never fails (Isaiah 55:11). Mountains respond to God's word .
If we didn't receive the desired results it isn't because God's word failed, it is because we entertained a little doubt by questioning the authenticity of the word of God. A little doubt is all that is needed to turn the switch of faith off. And just as electric current stops flowing when a switch is turned off, likewise, faith stops working when we entertain the smallest of doubt.
There isn't anything wrong with being tested but for no reason should we regret being saved or blame God for our woes. This happens when under pressure ,we are tempted to say" if I wasn't a christian I would have done so and so " at that moment faith is no longer at work (James 1:12-15) the devil's lies doesn't change the fact that mountains have ears and when we command them they'll respond ,the scriptures says in Matthew 24:35 AMP "Sky and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away"
When our mountains don't move it is because we have lost connection with God's word. We should ask God for a hunger for His word more than we do for food and like money (Prov.2:4) . When we allow circumstances dictate the outcome of an event, we lose faith ,for instance we shouldn't quit given our tithes and offerings because of prevailing unpleasant circumstances, the reward for tithes isn't limited to finances, it includes, security, fertility, health, ingenuity, respect ,revelation etc.the financial reward may come at a latter date, therefore we shouldn't be like those whom the scriptures rebukes in Malachi 3:14 AMP "You have said, It is useless to serve God, and what profit is it if we keep His ordinances and walk gloomily and as if in mourning apparel before the Lord of hosts?"instead of complaining we should say "the word of God says in Lev.26:10 'ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new', therefore i declare that new money is coming to me now in Jesus name". Whenever we are attacked with depression, we should remember past breakthroughs( Ps 78:11,19,20) and commit our ways to the lord (John5:44) and refuse to be over -concerned with physical needs (Luke 12:29-30) and pray for patience (Hebrews 10:35-36) says "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."
