SAFETY IN THE MULTITUDE OF COUNSELORS

 By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Acts27:10 "And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul."
Apostle Paul was arrested for his missionary activities and by personal request he was to be taken to Rome for trial before Caesar . The journey to Rome was by sailing through the high seas. Before they embarked on the journey he was instructed by the Holy Ghost to warn the captain of an impending danger. But they neglected his advice to put off the journey for a latter day :the sailors were more confident about their meteorological and navigation skills and embarked on the journey oblivious of what the Devil had in store for them. They eventually suffered a shipwreck but survived through apostle Paul's ministry.
God has a will for all of us specifically and collectively and He has a plan for the fulfillment of this will and it is independent of any person's opinion. It is therefore imperative that we seek His counsel before embarking on any venture. The scriptures says in Isaiah 46:10 AMP "Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose", He declares the end and the beginning of any situation , therefore to avoid life's pitfalls it is necessary to seek His counsel.
This process sometimes requires receiving counsel from christians who are well aquianted with the Lord and His word. The scriptures says in Proverbs 11:14 AMP "Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." In this era were blame shifting is an acceptable norm even if it is hinders spiritual growth, many christians would rather chose to blame their failures on a witch ,wizard or a curse, though these exist but they are powerless against the born again christian: through the blood of Jesus Christ, all written codes that were against us have been nullified, they are of no effect in the life of the believer in Christ. The scriptures says in Colossians 2:14 AMP "Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross." Every mystical, satanic documentation needed to give legitimacy to your oppression by satan and his cohorts have been nullified through the blood of Jesus. Anything contrary to this is a lie from satan. It is on this bases that the scriptures say in Colossians 1:13 AMP "[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love," This Scripture declares that we have been delivered ( in the past tense) and declared qualified to partake of the inheritance of the saints. The fact that a person is qualified for a blessing does not mean they would enjoy it.
Every blessing we shall ever enjoy is attached to a divine act of obedience, therefore the services of those who have experienced what we are going through is required to go through our trying moments. God’s purpose for our lives are multifaceted and complex requiring a multitude of counselors for them to be established (Proverbs 15:22) . Wisdom is attained after years of trial and error while seeking to develop victorious faith .The scriptures says in Hebrews 5:14 "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." The mature christian has gone through a series of trails and has been able to deduce parterns in line with God's will and therefore can safely predict  a course of action and it's consequences on the life of a person. We should not be afraid of making mistakes while in the process of discovering God’s will because no matter how many times we stumble while seeking His will, we shall rise again (Proverbs 24:16) .
The consequences of rejecting Godly counsel is grave and counterproductive especially when there are incontestable circumstantial evidence ( Mark 14:12-16) , usually open doors are met with stiff opposition while in the pursuit of a righteous course. Therefore, persistence is needed for breakthroughs. This doesn't mean that every case of an open door is divinely inspired, an example of this is the case of Pharaoh while in pursuit of the fleeing Israelites mistook the open seas as an opportunity from God but the reverse was the case, therefore, wisdom from a righteous counselor is needed. Circumstances don't always reflect the will of God, therefore, it is always best to live by faith which comes from being  taught the word of God by a counselor. . For we walk by faith not by sight.2Cor 5:7
