THE PURPOSE OF THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM

 By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is  come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,  and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the  earth."
The Holy Spirit is the life force of God, He is referred to as the third person in the trinity not by way of rank but by identity and functionality. It is analogous of an egg which consists of three parts, first the shell ,secondly the albumen and thirdly the yoke.  The order of occurrence does not necessarily mean an order of superiority. Likewise , God is three in one just as the egg is three in one and they are equal and function in perfect harmony. God is Father, Son (The Word) and the Holy Ghost. The scriptures says in Matthew 28: 19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: " the grammatical conjunction 'and' indicates a connection between the three entities. This means receiving the Father is the same as the son and the Holy Ghost.
The difference in their function doesn't necessarily mean separate in personality ,for example the egg yoke serves a different function from the egg shell, that doesn't mean it is not part of the egg. The Father is the supreme authority, the Son is the Word of the Father that gives meaning to everything while the Holy Ghost is the life giver of the universe : He is the origin of the energy that operates the universe, that makes Him greater and more powerful than the sum total of the energy in the universe.
When a Christian receives the Holy Ghost, it is an opportunity to operate in a dimension that transcends any natural law. It is a dimension in life where a person can alter the laws of science.  The Holy Ghost  is the miracle worker and miracles defy the natural laws of Science. The preaching of the gospel is to be accompanied with signs and wonders, this facilitates the spread of the gospel of righteousness and salvation by grace through faith. Miracles glorify God’s power and inspire faith in His word (Acts 9:36-42) many received the lord after they witnessed the resurrection of the dead by the Holy Ghost working through the apostle Peter. The Samaritans believed Phillip and received Jesus as their saviour when they saw what the Holy Ghost did through him.
God dislikes powerless preaching because they're open to unnecessary debates and corruption  and the preaching of the gospel is incomplete without the demonstration of the power of the Holy Ghost, this is what distinguishes the gospel from other teachings.  The scriptures says in 1Cor 4:20 "For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power." the demonstration of the power of the Holy Ghost is the duty of every born again christian, there is power in the preaching of the gospel and God isn't excited by our grammatical and political correctness in the preaching of the gospel, the scriptures says in 1 Cor 2.4" And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:" the modern church has deprived itself of the healing power of God by conforming to the world ; more resources are  committed to the putsuit of pleasure than in the building of an enabling faith-filled environment for the demonstration of God's power . This is why such places have become breeding grounds and hiding places for satanic cults such as the lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, transgender   movements (LHBT ). These precious souls need to know that with the power of the Holy Ghost, they can be normalized. If God can raise the dead ,correcting a person's sexual orientation shouldn't be a problem to Him.
Every Christian is expected to work in signs and wonders, the scriptures says in Mark.16:17 --18 "And these signs  shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;  they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents;  and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay  hands on the sick, and they shall recover." If you believe in Christ then you should be known for signs and wonders wherever you are. You mustn't open a church ministry to do this, apostle Paul was a lawyer and a businessman and yet did extraordinary signs and wonders. Jesus said in John 14:12 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."  this is a confirmation that miracles ,signs and wonders where not meant to end with Christ and His early disciples . One of the proofs that a person is truly saved is that the power of the Holy Ghost is demonstrated through that person in righteousness. That's why Paul asked the brethren in Ephesus "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? "(Acts 19:1,2). This is what distinguishes  true christians from the various satanic cults that have infiltrated the church  ( 2Thess 2:8-12)
The Holy Ghost transforms our personalities from sin unto righteousness (1Sam.10:6,Psalm 51:10-13) ajnd gives a peaceful and  fruitful life (Rom.8:5-7,Gal.5:16,17) through Him we have a closer relationship with Jesus (Eph 5:18,19 ) and increases our capacity for excellence (Gal.5:22,23,1cor.12:4-11) He insulates us against the misery in the world (Rom.14:17) filling our hearts with hope ((Rom 15:13) and is our comforter (Jn14:16,26,Jn 16:7) through Him we overcome guilt, condemnation and low self esteem (Rom.8:1,1 Pet.4:14) and He helps us maintain in integrity in our relationships (Jn.16:13b, 1Jn.5:6b) He guides our utterances ( Lk12:11,12) .
The Holy Spirit is received by asking the Father for the baptism of the Spirit (Luke 11:13) and through the laying on of the hands of Spirit-filled believers (Acts 8:15-17, Acts 19:6). Receive the Holy Ghost and power as you read this now in Jesus name.
