OVER- FAMILIARITY HINDERS GRACE FOR BREAKTHROUGHS

  Mark 6:5-6 NKJV “Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.”

    The Lord Jesus commenced his earthly messianic ministry at age thirty and Mary- the surrogate mother of the ‘Holy seed’ which metamorphosed into what the scriptures describes as the ‘Word made flesh’ had other children after the birth of Christ (Mark 6:3). They had grown together and gotten acquainted with Him seeing both His high and low moments.Jesus (God in human flesh) had to learn how to be a human being and that required being under tutors not because He was no longer omniscient but to establish what He already knew in the Spirit and to highlight the importance of education and family morals.

       God has never been subject to human authority  .A husband wishing to teach his children the importance of obedience, sometimes takes instructions from his wife not because he has lost the role of being the head of the family but to demonstrate that being obedient in any love relationship is not an acknowledgment of one’s inferiority but rather a demonstration of the importance of each person’s role in the relationship. The scripture speaks of Jesus in this regards in Heb 5:8-9 “Although he was a son, he learned obedience through the things he suffered.”, God’s perspective of learning is different from man’s in that while man seeks to receive new information; God confirms and establishes what He already knows.

             Jesus was startled by the fact that those who should know him better were the ones who showed greater disbelief in Him. Sometimes we become too familiar with each other to the point of doubting each person's potentials. God could use your child, school mate ,spouse, servant, parent, sibling to bring about a much needed major breakthrough , however, we must belief to receive .To belief in God simply means to surrender to His will and to doubt is to oppose it. It is like visiting a doctor for treatment but refusing him or his staff access to your body. Unbelief and belief are both cognitive processes. Therefore, it is very easy to doubt God whenever we are  in the company of persons who are experts at teaching errors. The world celebrates sin,  foolishness and vilifies men of wisdom. Unbelievers are dream killers and not much can be achieved while in their midst. They generate fear in our hearts instead of faith. Fear kills dreams while faith builds dreams.  

          Despite the enormity of His power, Jesus could not work much miracles in their midst due to their unbelief. As a panacea to their unbelief, He began to teach them the gospel and also employed the services of twelve disciples to carry out the task of breaking the ominous barrier created by their unbelief. The teaching of the gospel generates faith which is a sine qua non for the miraculous to take place. Teachers of God’s word are dream builders; they should be supported .Over familiarity is a characterized by being scornful, envious, arrogant and bitter .  King David said in  Ps 1:1-3 NKJV “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive deliverance  from  dream destroyers and power to locate my dream builders in Jesus name.
