WARNING AGAINST COMPLACENCY

“Your ancestors refused to listen to this message. They stubbornly turned away and put their fingers in their ears to keep from hearing. They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or the messages that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies had sent them by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. That is why the Lord of Heaven’s Armies was so angry with them."

Zechariah 7:11‭-‬12 NLT.  

     God's children are expected to grow in the knowledge and application of the things of His kingdom .Spiritual growth is manifested in the growth of  one's faith in God. Faith comes from a steady diet of God's word , yielding to the holy spirit and sharing in the testimonies of other faithfuls. 

 The bible says " Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing." 2 Thessalonians 1:3 NLT  The more our faith grows the more the loving nature of Jesus Christ  is seen in us.

    Complacency is defined by the Cambridge dictionary to be a feeling of calm satisfaction with your own abilities or situation that prevents you from trying harder:

  The major indicator of  complacency in a church , is the lack of interest in making personal research on the scriptures. At this point false  preachers take advantage and lord over God's people. Falsehood is celebrated as truth regardless of its implications on the moral fabric of society. The bible says  "the prophets give false prophecies, and the priests rule with an iron hand. Worse yet, my people like it that way! But what will you do when the end comes?

Jeremiah 5:31 NLT

   Whenever we put the love of things above God and devote more of our time and resources to acquiring them while fasting and praying  , we are bound to experience lukewarmness  . We are not expected to fast and pray for things but for a closer walk with the Holy Spirit , the bible says "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."Matthew 6:33 NLT 

  Complacency is as a result of satisfaction with material things ( 1Tim.6;5) success is never measured by material things but happiness. Africa is the richest continent in the world going by abundance of mineral and human resources but cannot be said to be successful. This is the product of wrong theology still being propagated across Africa by preachers. It celebrates materialism above moral rectitude and respect for human dignity . 

   God measures success by how happy a person is without 'things ' . Closing our hearts to the truth of the gospel is the root of spiritual blindness  (Zech 7:11-12) though many claim they can see ,they are blind (John 9:40-41) . Whenever we compromise due the fear of human opinion ,we are bound to become complacent ( Mark 8:38 John12:42-43) . Pray for a righteous zeal to preach the gospel in your family. 

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation , I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to be a source of revival .

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. In Numbers 12: 1-15  Moses' sister Miriam and Aaron rebelled against him desiring to rule by force and in Numbers 16 :1-35 Korah led an insurrection against Moses desiring to be part of leadership.
