THANKSGIVING FACILITATES HEALING AND RESTORATION

 By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

" And it came to  pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed  through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.  And  as he entered into a certain village, there met  him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar  off:  And they lifted up  their voices, and said,  Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.  And when  he saw them, he said unto them,  Go shew  yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass,  that, as they went, they were cleansed. And  one of them, when he saw that he was healed,  turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,   And fell down on  his face at his feet, giving  him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And  Jesus answering said, Were there not ten  cleansed? but where are the nine?  There are  not found that returned to give glory to God, save  this stranger.  And he said unto him,  Arise, go  thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole." Luke 17:11-19

These lepers were ready to give their lives for the words of Jesus Christ to go and show themselves to the priests. It was a demonstration of great act of faith. Lepers were outcasts who were to be avoided .

Old testament rules governing leprosy required a sacrifice be made as an acknowledgment of one's healing from leprosy. ( Leviticus 14) verse 20 says "  And the priest  shall offer the burnt offering and the meat  offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make  an atonement for him, and he shall be clean."

Those lepers had to believe they had received their healing as Jesus Christ said , while they went to give their offerings they  received healing . They were all healed but not made whole. To be made whole meant all that was lost as a result of the leprosy was restored .

A parallel of this was the story of Job . God restored his losses after the offering in gratitude for answers to prayers . Job was still ill when he made the sacrifice and the bible says in Job 42: 10 "And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when  he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job  twice as much as he had before. Then came  there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters,  and all they that had been of his acquaintance  before, and did eat bread with him in his house:  and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over  all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him:  every man also gave him a piece of money, and  every one an earring of gold.  So the Lord  blessed the latter end of Job more than his  beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep,  and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke  of oxen, and a thousand she asses.'

That one leper that returned to give thanks received the double portion , healing and restoration of his losses . Jesus Christ said " your faith has made you 'whole "the word 'whole' is the Greek word sōzō it means to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction or (from injury or peril)

This fellow recovered all that was lost unlike his ungrateful friends .

Thanksgiving is a demonstration of faith for healing and total recovery . Let the lord direct you one how to show your gratitude to him .

Prayer : Heavenly forgive me of my sins I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to heal the sick in Jesus name
