HOW TO TURN DISAPOINTMENTS INTO BLESSINGS
POSITION YOURSELF TO RECEIVE FROM GOD
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Luke 8:6 KJV ” And some fell upon a rock; and as
soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.”
Jesus in this parable speaks of the various
degrees of commitment to God’s word and their effect on our lives. God is fair and
just in his dealings with man or else He wouldn’t have the moral justification to judge the world. God’s favour is fair and doesn’t break protocols to bless a person,
He isn’t the author
of confusion (1Cor 14.33). Jesus has paid for the sins of all humanity
including the unborn. His blessing isn’t more on some persons than the others the scriptures
say in Eph 1:3-4 NIV…Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us
in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” The blessing isn’t on some persons but on everybody just like the sun shines
on everyone. We’re blessed
with all spiritual blessings and not some. There’s no room for a curse in us because
blessings cannot coexist with curses in the same person the scriptures say in Gal
3:13 NKJV “Christ has
redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is
written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree")
God has given equal opportunities, same
blessing, same salvation same faith and same Holy Spirit. None is superior to
the other. God could be using someone in an extraordinary manner, that doesn’t mean they are in anyway superior.
Peter chronicled this in Acts 10:26 KJV “But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also
am a man.” After
Cornelius a high ranking officer in the Roman army met with him for the first
time after being instructed by an angel to send for Peter (Acts 10:1-26). What
makes the difference between individuals with respect to the manifestation of
the grace of God is the state of our hearts.
The rocky heart (Luke 8:6) is
resistant and impervious to the grace of God .The seed of the word of God needs
to be watered for growth to take place. The rocky heart lacks both root and
moisture. Paul said in 1 Cor 3:6 KJV “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the
increase.” God uses
persons to water the seed of his word in our hearts. The rocky heart is
unfriendly to teachers of God’s word probably because of an ugly incident with a
preacher in their past. The rocky heart is prone to fall to the fallacy of
hasty generalization which says “they are all the same”. When we position ourselves were we can no longer be
instructed we soon develop a rocky heart. Moisture is symbolic of love which
faith needs to work, the scriptures say in Gal 5:6 KJV “For in Jesus Christ neither
circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by
love. Our religious practices are of no value in the absence of unconditional
love.
The rocky heart is the product of
past hurts such as a painful breakup, sad childhood experiences,
disappointments and abuse by persons we hold in high esteem etc. After going
through such experiences, we usually end up say “i would never allow this happen to me again” and develop hatred for those who
abused us and become hardhearted, abusive and suspicious of every kind gesture.
We begin to trust our judgment more than that of anyone else and soon extend
our suspicion to include the writers of the scriptures (Heb3:13). Rocky hearts are often
lonely and prone to substance abuse: a situation the scriptures describes as
withering. They are thirsty for love and under this circumstance anything under
the guise of love is welcomed. They easily fall victims of false prophets (2Pet
2:1,14). Under this condition, Satan blinds our eyes through distractions
therefore making it hard for us to receive our blessings (John 12:40.2cor4:4)
that’s why it seems
prayers aren’t been
answered, they actually are but we can’t see well enough to receive the miracle.
We need to sincerely ask the lord to
heal our hearts before we can receive anything from him. A hurting heart finds
it hard to trust God for miracles. They are accustomed to taking care of
themselves. It is when we seek God with all our hearts that we would be able to
see the doors of opportunities that God opened for us for the fulfillment of
our dreams. The disappointments shall be turned into blessings in Jesus name.
