WATCH WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT YOURSELF; IT MIGHT JUST COME TO PASS

DO NOT DESPISE PROPHESY
DO NOT DESPISE PROPHESY
2 Kings 7:2 NKJV “So an officer on whose hand the king
leaned answered the man of God and said, "Look, if the Lord would make
windows in heaven, could this thing be? And he said, "In fact, you shall
see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it."
There was acute famine in the
land of Samaria to the point of people resorting to cannibalism. And when they
cried to the lord He sent His prophet (a symbol of divine authority) Elisha to the rescue. By the leading of the Holy Spirit He declared 2
Kings 7:1 NKJV “…Hear the word
of the Lord. Thus says the Lord:'Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour
shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate
of Samaria.'"
What
Elisha was saying in essence was that the most expensive food item will be
affordable to the poorest person in the land within 24hours.
This was an impossible task by man’s ability but with God all things
are possible to them that believe. In response to the man of God one of the
king’s personal
assistant attempted to make a mockery of the prophesy by saying except God opened
windows in the skies and dropped food, this prophesy would be nothing but a fairy
tale. This assistant was definitely not acquainted with God’s way of doing things; he was driven
by the principle of “seeing is believing” but God says we are blessed because
we believe even when we haven’t seen( John20:29). The king’s assistant had limited vision of
the Spiritual realm and had issues with pride. Mockery is the language of pride.
There must have been some other persons
who might have had some doubt just as
this government official did but they never said a word against the prophet
(2chron20:20). God holds us accountable for what we say about ourselves and the
devil knows this too well therefore, he often puts us under pressure to
lead us into making evil declarations over our lives out of frustration. It’s better to keep silent when under
such circumstances; the scripture says in Prov 21:23 NLT “Watch your tongue and keep your mouth
shut, and you will stay out of trouble.”
Jesus said in Matt 12:37 NKJV “For by your words you will be justified
and by your words you will be condemned." The word condemn is a Greek word
‘katadikazo’ which means to ‘adjudge against’. What it means is by what we say
about ourselves things either works for us or against us. In 2kings 7:18-20 What
the man of God said came to pass just as He said but the king’s assistant did not live to enjoy
the breakthrough that God brought upon
Samaria.
Satan and his demons have been stripped of all
their power (Luke10:19,Col 2:15) and all power in the heavens and in the earth belongs
to Jesus and at the mention of His awesome miracle working name every knee
shall bow and this power is in the spirit of the born again Christian and
released when we speak (Phil2:9-11,Rom10:8) : it is the word of faith which we
speak. Declare what God says about you and see it come to pass.
