TRUE LOVE ISNT HARD TO FIND :IT'LL FIND YOU
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Matt 25:6 NKJV "And at midnight a cry was
heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'
In Matthew 25:1-13 Jesus likened the
principles of the kingdom of God to ten virgins who had gone to meet with the
bridegroom, five went with lamps and extra oil in the event that the waiting
period took longer than usual and the other five had no extra oil. The lamp is
symbolic of the human spirit, while the flame from the lamp is the illumination
from the word of God deposited in the human spirit. The scriptures in Ps
119:105 KJV says “Thy word is a
lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
We need the guidance of the word
of God in our everyday dealings especially in taking major decisions in our
lives such as marriage, starting a ministry, birth of children, type of Job or
business etc . The presence of the word of God in the spirit of a person gives
great joy during the long waiting periods. The scriptures likens this waiting
period to mourning and the Lord promises that He will give us beauty for ashes
, the oil of Joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness (Isaiah 61:3) . The period of waiting for the manifestation of a
promise from the lord can be quite daunting; this is when many persons become ‘drowsy’ (Matt.25:5). Drowsiness is the period of spiritual
inactivity and disinterest in church activities. This is when we are most
vulnerable to the forces of darkness (Isaiah 56:9-12). Those without oil in
their lamps simply put off church activities and seek for alternative sources
of joy that often ends in tragedy.
For those with extra oil, it is a time
to trim lamps (Matt25:7); the word trim is the Greek word ‘kosmeo’; which means: to put in proper order, i.e. decorate,
adorn, garnish , to snuff (a wick): what this implies is that persons with oil receive inspiration from
their reservoir of God’s word in
their spirits this puts them in proper order for the next level of life’s journey. The word of God planted in our hearts is
our only source of inspiration in the dark moments, the scripture says in Job
32:8 KJV “But there is a
spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding”. The faintest amount of light
emitted from our spirits is a threat to Satan and his demons. All it takes to
set a forest ablaze is a spark of fire, likewise no matter how small a source
of light is , it will always overpower the thickest darkness, therefore , we do
not need too much of a revelation or what is known as ‘deep mysteries’ of God to put Satan to flight.
Those virgins without oil are
likened to those persons who read the word only when faced with a need; they
have a short term commitment to God’s word and can’t stand the rigors of a long-lasting relationship. We should
read and meditate upon the scriptures while anticipating needs. They may not be
yours but that of a family member, loved ones or community. We are to serve as
a source of inspiration to those who have or about to give up on life. A
contrary view makes us vulnerable to religious entrepreneurs (those that sell
oil Matt 25:9). The unwise virgins eventually missed out on their moment of
glory while seeking for those that sell oil. We are in the age of the
monetization of the anointing where money has taken the place of sound
doctrine. People are told that as long as money is being paid to a certain minister
, our success is guaranteed but the scriptures teaches that our success is tied
to a lifetime commitment of meditating
on God’s word (Joshua1:8).
This is the source of the oil of love; it is the true oil from God: Matt25:10
said the ‘bridegroom
came to them’; they did not
go looking for Him. We do not go looking for true love, for that to happen, we must
turn off our lamps and that’s the reason behind so much heartbreaks. True love
finds us .God is love.
