THANK GOD FOR YOUR PERSECUTION-

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
“Many evils confront the (consistently) righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.  He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken Psalm 34:19-20

To persecute means to harass, afflict, hunt down, or put to death, especially for religious or political opinions.
We are in a world were the forces of good and evil jostle to establish supremacy.  They world unfortunately celebrates evil more than they do for good, as a result, humanity is in a marathon race bound for self destruction.  Despite the prevalence of so much anti-God ideologies, there still exist a remnant who refuse to be overwhelmed by the tidal wave of society decay and maladjustments.

These persons have made an irrevocable commitment to be agents of the kingdom of God and beacons of hope in a hopeless generation.  And as in every marathon race, any one who runs against the traffic is most likely to meet with strong opposition.

Every follower of Jesus Christ will suffer persecution:  regardless of how kind or nice you may be as a child of God; you will suffer persecution.  The world is full of sadists who rejoice in the misfortunes of others.  They enjoy seeing others being hurt because of the bitterness in their hearts.  In Christ Jesus we receive a new heart full of compassion, peace and joy unspeakable.
Every uncompromisingly righteous Christian must suffer persecution Indeed all who delight in piety and are determined to live a devoted and godly life in Christ Jesus will meet with persecution (will be made to suffer because of their religious stand) 2Timothy 3:12 Amp. Bible. Jesus told His disciples “Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his Lord.  If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; John 15:20 KJV.

There are benefits for being persecuted

A.    There is a heavenly reward for those who endure persecution, you are reassured of your place in heaven.  “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed  are you when people insult you.  Persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”  Mathew 5:10-11 Niv. “For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hours) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an ever lasting weight of glory (beyond measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!)…… 2 Corinthians 4:17Amp. Bible.

B.    The Lord never abandons us during periods of persecution.  He will help us.

Regardless of how severe your persecution may be, God is ever present to deliver us at the appointed time.  He will never leave nor forsake us, “God is ever present to deliver us at an ever present help in trouble” Psalm 46:1 NIV.

“The wicked lie in wait for the (uncompromising) righteous and seek to put them to death.

The Lord will not leave them in their hands, or (suffer them to) condemn them when they are judged Psalm 37:32-33 Amp. Bible
