GRACE PROTECTS AGAINST THE SCARS OF DIVORCE:

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Mark 10:5-6 NKJV And Jesus answered and said to them, "Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.'
The scripture describes marriage as a mystery (Eph.5:32). The word mystery as used here is a Greek word ‘musterion ‘which means (to shut the mouth); a secret or "mystery" (through the idea of silence imposed by initiation into religious rites). It is a mystical union that requires the highest form of information management. Marriages are built or destroyed by spoken words. The first couple failed when they began sharing their marriage covenant secrets with a stranger (Satan) in their pursuit of alternative wisdom away from God’s word (Gen3:1-6). You can choose to build your marriage by the guidance of God’s word or secular media (magazines,tv soap opera, etc).
Marriage is symbolic of the mystical union between Jesus Christ and the church. The man and woman are first joined in spirit as members of the body of Christ: the church. They must be born again (John3:7). Under this spiritual condition, they become compatible in every ramification (1Cor6:17, 12:13, Phil1:27). They have the same mind, thought and same judgment, therefore they speak the same thing . Their physical bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost set apart for worship in spirit and in truth.
Marriage is a reenactment of the redemption process where Christ descended from His glorious position with the father that He may restore mankind’s lost glory by paying our debts (past, present, future) once and for all, thus covering a multitude of sins that He may be the firstborn of those born by the Spirit of grace .He gave mankind the right to share in His glory (John1:12, Rom8:30) ,making us joint-heirs( in no way inferior ) with Him(Rom8:17).
The primary purpose of marriage between two born again believers is for the raising of Godly children through leadership by example in an atmosphere of love, righteousness, peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost (Mal 2:15, Rom14:17). According to Eph 5:25-26 ”….  just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God's word”. The husband is to dedicate his life to washing his wife with the word God until she appears Holy and clean. Therefore, it is not biblical to expose her ‘ungodliness’ to the public, the husband as a matter of necessity is to share the Word of God daily  thus reassuring her that just like Christ did for the church, all her sins (past, present, future)  are forgiven.
The wife's sins are forgiven in advance, thus she is free from guilt and condemnation .This gives the man no room for evil thoughts against his wife. This is the secret of living together; Jesus sustains the church by the word of His power (Heb1:3)you cannot love someone when you have evil thoughts against him or her. This is what grace is all about. Women are automatically drawn to men of grace in holy submission to the spirit of grace at work in the man. Unfortunately, most men think they can sustain their wives with material things such as cars, money, Jewelry etc . None of these can change a woman’s life; they make her proud and prone to sin. A woman whose heart is richly filled with the word of God is not moved by material things and not a financial burden to her husband and vice versa .
Divorce gives no room for the spirit of grace to thrive and weakens the church . The love of God is shared to a dying world through the church, divorce, makes this process difficult. It is not God’s plan for His church however; He allows it because of the hardness of the human heart. Divorce scars the parties involved, families, communities for life; affecting the lives of children yet unborn.
The hard-hearted always demands love from their partner but the heart full of grace is always seeking for new ways to show love to their partner (Rom5:5-6). The hard-hearted seeks for grounds for divorce while the heart filled with the Spirit of grace seeks for grounds to love. What you seek, you will find.  Jesus loved us even when we did not love Him; because for a relationship to last we have to perpetually be on the giving side of love even if the other person does not love back. God loves the sinner regardless therefore we should love regardless while depending on the Spirit of grace to sustain us. As you receive Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour and read this now, receive grace for a strong marriage full of love in Jesus name.
