SAFETY IN THE MULTITUDE OF COUNSELORS

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
Acts27:10 "And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul."
Prov 15:22 TLB"Plans go wrong with too few counselors; many counselors bring success.
Apostle Paul was arrested for his missionary activities and personally requested that he be taken to Rome for trial before Caesar. Prior to their departure by sea ,he was instructed of the Holy Ghost to warn the captain of impending danger, advising the journey be put off for a latter day, but they trusted their meteorological reports and navigation skills oblivious of the disaster that awaited them. Eventually, they suffered a shipwreck but survived through Apostle Paul's intervention. This underscores the importance of seeking wise counsel from a mature Christian while embarking on major projects.
God's plans for us are independent of human opinion. It is therefore imperative that we seek His counsel before embarking on any venture. The scriptures says in Isaiah 46:10 AMP "Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose", God sees the end of a matter from the beginning, therefore to avoid life's pitfalls it is necessary to seek His counsel.
These plans are sometimes revealed through counseling from Christians who are well acquainted with the Lord and His word. Proverbs 11:14 AMP says "Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Most times we are quick to blame witches and wizards for our failures while in actual sense it is the lack of insufficient knowledge that results in most mishaps. Jesus Christ nullified the codes that were against our success .Colossians 2:14 AMP says "Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross." The legal grounds that gave Satan the right to oppress us has been nullified through the blood of Jesus, therefore , it is not right to say because of an unpleasant experience in a dream you have lost your rights to succeed. We are free from all spiritual entanglements;  Colossians 1:13 AMP says "[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love," This Scripture declares that we have been delivered(in the past tense) and qualified (past tense) to partake of the inheritance of the saints. The fact that a person is qualified for a blessing does not mean they would enjoy it; just as to eat fried eggs you must crack the eggs.
Each blessing is attached to a divine act of obedience, that's why we need experienced counselors. God’s purpose for our lives are multifaceted and complex requiring wisdom attained through years of trial and error (Proverbs 15:22). Hebrews 5:14 says "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."From past experience, a Christian counselor can safely predict the course of an action and it's consequences on the life of a person.
While seeking God’s will we are bound to stumble, that should not deter us because we shall eventually rise again (Proverbs 24:16) It is dangerous to reject righteous counsel in the face of incontestable circumstantial evidence ( Mark 14:12-16) We should not consider an open door to mean God’s approval ;for instance ,while pursuing Israelites, Pharaoh mistook the open seas as an opportunity from God but the reverse was the case, therefore, wisdom from a righteous counselor is needed. Circumstances do not always reflect the will of God; therefore, it is always best to live by faith which comes from being taught the word of God by a counselor. . For we walk by faith not by sight.2Cor 5:7 ‘As you receive Jesus Christ as lord and savior and read this now receive grace for wisdom and revelation in Jesus name.
