TRUE HONOUR COMES FROM GOD (PART2)

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
John 5:44-45 NKJV “ How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?”
The above scriptures states that there are two ways one can be honoured , it can be by human achievements  or by a divine endowment .
There are two types of Christianity , they are: religious Christianity – characterized by  worship according to man’s standards and seeks to promote self  .It is described in Colossians 2:  Col 2:20-23 TLB “ Since you died, as it were, with Christ and this has set you free from following the world's ideas of how to be saved — by doing good and obeying various rules — why do you keep right on following them anyway, still bound by such rules as not eating, tasting, or even touching certain foods?  Such rules are mere human teachings, for food was made to be eaten and used up.  These rules may seem good, for rules of this kind require strong devotion and are humiliating and hard on the body, but they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person's evil thoughts and desires. They only make him proud.”  Religious Christianity is driven by an insatiable desire to be honoured by man but it is against God’s will.
The second type of Christianity is the spiritual rebirth (born again) it is driven by love and the desire to serve God and humanity while promoting social justice ,equity and environmental protection. It is characterized by righteousness, a peaceful and joyful disposition. It abhors pride and selfishness but promotes family love and social welfare . It is the opposite of religious Christianity whose objective is the exploitation of the majority for the prosperity of a few.Religious christianity operates a sophisticated system of bribery commonly known as “miracle seeds” and other sundry offerings. It is the parent of bribery and corruption in the society. It teaches that a person must give an offering to be qualified for a blessing (non of the persons Jesus healed had to first give an offering) ; this is contrary to the scriptures which teaches that Jesus has paid the price for all miracles and declared us qualified to receive them  with thanksgiving (Col1:12-13, Matt10:8,Rom5:18). All forms of giving in the Church should be driven by nothing else but love for God ,our teachers ,humanity and the desire to spread the gospel
Under religious Christianity a preacher can attain honour and fame from the proceeds of bribes (miracle seeds and sundry offerings)  taken from public officers in exchange for prayers  like prophet Balaam and king Balak (Num.22:17) Religious preachers often refers to this as being anointed for favour .If meeting with a president is a measure of how anointed a preacher is then what do we say about the president’s aids (cooks, doctor, guards etc)who are always with the president. They should be considered as being more anointed than that preacher (if such things exist). We are all equally anointed as one body in Christ with the Spirit of Jesus being the anointer and the anointing(John15:16).
Religion considers honour from men as a tribute to success or wealth and so the average religious person will do anything to get rich quick so they could be accorded honour in their community (Job29:8) forgetting that such honour is transitory  Ps 49:12 NIV says  “But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beasts that perish.”  The pursuit of the honour from man results in the diminishing of one’s capacity to pray and study God’s word . It takes away the passion for godliness and opens the door to satanic manipulations. As you receive Jesus Christ as lord ad savior and read this now receive grace for rival in your prayer life and devotion to God’s word in Jesus name.
