THE LAW OF FAMILY HONOUR AND NATION BUILDING

 “Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Deuteronomy 5:16 NLT " 
    Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1‭-‬3 NLT Bible       The family is the building block of the church community and the nation . God instituted the laws governing the family and he is the head of the family. The laws governing families are sacred and the violation of these laws could result in unpleasant consequences and even loss of life . An example , is the rebellion led by David's son Absalom against him that resulted in the death of Absalom ( 2 Samuel chapter 13 to chapter 19). Another is that of Eli and his sons Hophni and Phinehas ( 1 Samuel chapter 1 to chapter 4). Another example is that of the sons of Samuel " But they were not like their father, for they were greedy for money. They accepted bribes and perverted justice. “ they missed out on the office of the priesthood because of their rebellion “you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have.” 1 Samuel 8:3‭, ‬5 NLT Bible. These scriptures are also proof that being a preacher's child does not give an edge over sin. Not at all , preacher's children are prone to sin as much as children from non Christian homes. It is not necessarily because the parents failed in their parenting skills but a matter of the children's selfishness ,preferring evil over good. The first parent was Christ in the garden of Eden , the fact that Adam and Eve failed does not mean Jesus failed in his parenting skills in the garden of Eden. 
    Do not be quick to condemn yourself over someone else's act of irresponsibility. One of the ways Satan seeks to discourage preachers is through a selfish child like Eve. It is an irony in life that good children can come from bad parents and bad children can come from good parents . It is for this reason that the church of Christ is mandated to promote virtues that enhance family honour .
   Weak families produce weak leadership and poor communities and nations and it begins with the violation of the law of family honour. The first step towards building an honourable family is to establish the family hierarchy based on scriptural standards , the bible says " But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God." 1 Corinthians 11:3 NLT Bible The word 'head ' is the Greek word kephalē metaphorically it means anything supreme, chief, prominent of persons, master lord: of a husband in relation to his wife. That was why Sarah addressed her husband Abraham as 'Lord' ( 1Peter3:6) The best example to explain how this relates to husbands and wives is the relationship between a president and his vice or deputy , they are equally protected by the constitution but one is of necessity above the other administratively. The vice can only act within the confines of the constitutional provisions of his or her office. So is the wife to her husband . A President cannot as proof of his preeminence slap his vice in the face ,that is a criminal offence. The family should be run as a nation , while in there mother's womb ,God described Esau and Jacob as nations . The bible is the constitution that guides the running of the family and any infringement is met with the appropriate punishment. The reward for following the constitution is joy , equity ,security , fairness and prosperity .

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. In Numbers 12: 1-15  Moses' sister Miriam and Aaron rebelled against him desiring to rule by force and in Numbers 16 :1-35 Korah led an insurrection against Moses desiring to be part of leadership.
