SEE BEYOND THE HORIZON : VISIONS DETERMINE PROVISIONS
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Luke 12:54-55 NKJV “Then He also said to the multitudes, "Whenever
you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, 'A shower is
coming'; and so it is.
The religious folks of Jesus’ time had often interpreted the
weather using meteorological analysis and extended the same principles in the
interpretation of the spiritual. But they were derided by Jesus in Luke
17:20-21 KJV “And when he was demanded of the
Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The
kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here!
or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
There are so many predictions with
respect to the kingdom of God and the end times and these predictions have become
a source of fear and frustration to many. Salvation is by love not fear. God’s kingdom cannot be detected with
scientific instruments. The kingdom is spiritual and cannot be interpreted by
the movement of stars, asteroids or any other atmospheric phenomenon. The
kingdom of God is not far from us. God is not more in one place and less in
another. He is everywhere.
The Pharisees like most skeptics only
believed when they saw a sign. Jesus rebuked them for this in John 4:48 NKJV “Then Jesus said to him, "Unless
you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe." Signs and
wonders are insufficient proof to validate truth because they do not satisfy
logic and they are based on subjective reasoning. An example of this is the
case of Moses and the Egyptian magicians(Ex 7:22,Ex8:7,18), pharaoh couldn’t be convinced by signs and wonders
because he had a subjective explanation for each miracle. He saw Moses not as a
servant of God but as a magician with superior skills. When we attempt to
validate scriptures through miracles we open ourselves to false miracles and
wrong theology. Satan shall deceive many through signs and wonder in the church
2Thess.2:7-12. The name of the lord has been dragged to the mud by those who
place the pursuit of signs and wonders above God’s word. Enduring faith can’t be attained by observing signs and
wonders, weather patterns and unidentifiable flying objects (UFO). Faith comes
from hearing God’s word
(Rom10:17). To avoid being deceived, we need to daily ask God for the spirit of
discernment (1cor12:10).
Abraham was a man with the spirit
of discernment; he saw Jesus over a thousand years before Christ was manifested
in the flesh as son of God. The magnitude of one’s vision determines how sustainable one’s faith in God would be. A mountain
may look very big when viewed at a close range but insignificant when viewed
from the moon. That’s how small
problems are when viewed from God’s point of view.
There was a dispute between Abraham’s and his nephew Lot’s servants on resource control which
led to their going separate ways and after Lot had chosen the best portion of
the estate God said to Abraham in Gen
13:14-15 NKJV .. "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are
— northward,
southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you
and your descendants forever.” In effect God was saying your vision about life would
determine the provisions you’ll enjoy and your circumstances aren’t strong enough to keep you from
where God wants you to be ; we must look
above the perceived mountains in life ; beyond the horizon and recognize that
there is a greater future ahead of us .The prosperity of the nation of Israel today
is attributable to Abraham divine foresight .2 Cor 4:18 “So we don't look at the troubles we
can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the
things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last
forever” Receive grace
to see and partake of your glorious destiny.
