HOW TO SECURE A RELATIONSHIP AGAINST FAILURE
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi
Isaiah 60:3-4 NKJV “The Gentiles shall come to your
light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. "Lift up your eyes all
around, and see: They all gather together, they come to you;”
Jesus said we are the light of the
world and salt of the earth Matt5:13-14. Light exposes the beauty and salt the essence
of creation .The second verse of Isaiah 60 says “darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the
people;” this darkness
is the confusion in the world that’s as a result of the lack of love in the world. The
world is in chaos as a result of the absence of unconditional love. What the
world practices is a type of love that is conditional; this is deficient in so
many ways and results in a lack of commitment in relationships.
It is the lack of commitment in the
world that is behind the increase in the rate of insecurity globally. It takes
a heart that’s rooted in
God’s kind of
faith to overcome the fear of failure which is the reason why many cannot
totally commit to a relationship. We have been taught that love is all that is
needed to sustain a relationship but from all indication even the best of
friends in a relationship find it hard to live together, they’d rather love each other but from a
distance, the reason being that love isn’t sufficient enough to sustain a relationship; we need
faith in God and in each other. This faith is born out of an understanding of
the word of God. The home that is built on love alone cannot stand the test of
time because the human experience of love is temporal and gives no room for
chastening (Heb 12:6-11) ; this is the
reason why more lives are lost every year because of love than any other cause
in the world. We are suspicious over those who truly love us.
The scriptures say in Prov 24:3-4 NKJV “Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding
it is established; By knowledge the
rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.” There are three major ingredients
needed to sustain a home, they are namely, wisdom, understanding and knowledge.
They are obtained through God’s word. Love is the reward of a life of wisdom,
knowledge and understanding. Unfortunately most persons have put the pursuit of
love above these indispensable ingredients and become easy prey to emotional
predators. Practicing love without these three qualities is an invitation to
disaster.
The unconditional love of God is
shared through the heart of God’s people and it gives illumination to this dark world.
This type of love is logical and works with the human conscience; it is very
patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never
haughty or selfish or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable
or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do
it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins
out. In summary, it says “If you love
someone, you will be loyal to him or her no matter what the cost. You will
always believe in him or her, always expects the best of him or her, and always
stand your ground in defending him or her”(TLB 1 Cor
13:4-7) . These are the qualities the scriptures in Isaiah60:3-4 says attracts
the world to the Church. This is what the world yearns for, but unfortunately
what is displayed in our churches is religious entrepreneurship based on
selfish capitalistic marketing strategies used by the world’s system. This is behind the poverty
in the world and that is why religious folks tend to be very selfish in
relationships. Let the world see the light of love through you that your
heavenly Father may be glorified (Matt5:16). Kings await you.
