YOUR TONGUE CAN EITHER MAKE OR BREAK YOUR HOME

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Mark 11:23 "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith"
Jesus was standing on the mount of olives near Jerusalem when He made this profound statement ( Mark 11:1).  He was literally speaking of the mountain of olives which can still be seen in Israel today. He was letting the disciples  know the power inherent in a person's tongue. The human tongue determines the course of a person's destiny, we are where we are now because of words spoken in the past and our future will to a large extent be determined by what we are saying about ourselves .
Words determine the mood in homes, that's why we are enjoined to fill our mouths with words of grace that edifies the hearers. This is also important in crisis management and dispute resolution.  The scriptures says in Proverbs 15:1 AMP" A SOFT answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger" also in Proverbs 25:15 AMP "... soft speech breaks down the most bonelike resistance. " thousands of Christian marriages and relationships are destroyed everyday by the manner we communicate with each other, when the tongue is unbridled, it's effect can be very devastating.  We should learn to respond to each other in a soft tone. Words of wisdom  are more pleasant to listen to when well spoken. The message of the gospel may fall on deaf ears when spoken in a manner that dishonours the hearers. Likewise,  when a spouse is spoken to in a condescending manner its effect will be counterproductive in a marriage or relationship. Proverbs 16:24 AMP says  "Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body."
Daily life involves a lot of unpleasant encounters that drain strength from the soul. The home is a place of rest and should be filled with healthy materials for the rejuvenation of a drained soul. The most effective of this is the tongue from a loved one speaking words of wisdom in line with whatever one is going through,  the scriptures says in Proverbs 15:4 AMP "A gentle tongue [with its healing power] is a tree of life, but willful contrariness in it breaks down the spirit." it also says in Proverbs 16:24 AMP "Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body." Unfortunately a lot of Christians engage in unnecessary wearying  arguments thus increasing the number of believers who fall into the snare of the enemy while seeking for emotional and spiritual rejuvenation from social clubs . The tongue of a wise spouse should be a reservoir of wisdom,  Proverbs 10:11 AMP says "The mouth of the [uncompromisingly] righteous man is a well of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence." the scriptures teaches that when a married man or woman is devoid of wisdom, they plan violent schemes against their spouses.  This is the origin for spousal abuse especially violence against women.
A marriage or home is preserved by the words that emanates from the parties concerned, Proverbs 14:3 AMP "In the fool's own mouth is a rod [to shame] his pride, but the wise men's lips preserve them." the power to work in divine favour dwells in the tongue of godly spouses that's why the scriptures says whomever finds a wife,  finds a good thing and obtains favour of the lord (Proverbs 18:22) ; godly women daily prophesy God's favour upon their families, Proverbs 31:26 says "She openeth her mouth with  wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness." Through one's words a spouse could enjoy promotion likewise through the same, one's spouse could suffer a demotion. Through, the knowledge of God's word,  we know the appropriate word to speak in every situation in other to receive the desired results ( Proverbs 10:32) When spoken under the right circumstance, God's word can make a person strong Isaiah (35:3,4). A wise spouse knows how to speak a word in season to the weary (Isaiah 50:4) so if a spouse comes home with a retrenchment letter , instead of being hysterical and demoralized she or he  would say " don't worry honey",  phil  4;19 says "God will supply our need according to His reaches in glory " everything will be fine, we are surrounded by divine favour (Psalm 5:12) and the lord is our shepherd, we shall not lack (Psalm23:1)
Silence is a virtue that's  saves us from crisis (1Thess 4:11) seeking to voice out all that's in our mind when offended does more harm than good (Proverbs 29:11,15:2) the first person to quit speaking in a heated argument earns more respected (Prov20:3) because there's never a winner in any argument between loved ones, we compliment each other and do not compete with each other. One person can't be wrong and the other right in a relationship. We are one body.
We should serve as guards over each other's utterances (Psalm141:3) because marital infidelities and other failures first proceeds out of the mouth before they actually occur , same with foolishness ( Matthew 15:18) and deadly diseases (2Tim2:16,17) better to invest more in the awareness of the healing power of the Holy Ghost than any other  awareness programme . Homes were talebearers are welcomed suffer from medical conditions that defy medicines (Proverbs.26:22,25:18) the words from an angry spouse destroys the body organs of family members (prov.12:18a) . Medical bills could be drastically reduced if we controlled our tongues with God's word. Most of what we claim to be attacks from witches and wizards are nothing but self-afflicted wounds gotten from speaking evil (prov.11:9,18:21), when spouses hate each other, their words destroy each other (Matt.12:35b). There is nothing as powerful as saying "I love you" to one's spouse.
If young spinsters and bachelors will spend 10% of what is invested on houses, cars, parties etc on the development of a healthy way of speaking, they'll do better maritally. Corrupt ,evil and  foolish speaking makes a beautiful woman stink and drives suitors away( Ecclesiastes 10:1.1cor.15:33) leads to the destruction of relationships (prov.10:14b,prov13:3b,psalm109:17-20) and opens the door for demonic oppression (prov.18:7,prov 12:13a).
As you read this now, receive grace for control over your tongue and the reversal of every self-afflict ted damage to your family in Jesus name.
