GOD'S FAVOUR NEVER LEAVES YOU

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
Ps 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” KJV
This is a verse from what is often referred to as the shepherd’s psalm. It chronicles the relationship between Jesus Christ and the church. The word  ‘mercy’ as used in this text is the Hebrew word  ‘checed’  and it means ; kindness;  piety: reproof, or beauty:  favour, good deed,  pity.
The relationship between the lord and His church is likened to that between a good shepherd and his sheep. The sheep plays no role in its daily provisions: all it does is follow the shepherd.
The shepherd’s love for the sheep is unconditional even when they go astray , he never stops showing care for them . Jesus illustrated this in the parable of the shepherd who left his ninety -nine sheep to save one that went astray (Luke 15:4). God’s love for us is not subject to seasons and circumstances: it is constant : so is His favour .He will not wait for a church conference to take place before showing you favour.
Religion teaches that favour is seasonal and also exist in sizes , this is contrary to the new testament theology . Under the new testament, God declares the born again Christian ; a joint heir with Christ .What this implies is that we share in the same blessing as Jesus Christ , though He is the head of the church. The new testament word ‘grace’ means favour  and through Christ we have access to God’s favour not because of what we did but because of what Jesus did on the cross for us . Romans  5:1-2 KJV says “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Hallelujah , we have access eternally to God’s favour .We should always hope for the best in life because of His favour
We must have faith in God’s favour just as we have in salvation through faith. And whenever we are passing through a difficult time we should always believe God is supplying all our needs regardless of the circumstances. Instead of having negative thoughts about ourselves or waiting for another religious programme for deliverance, we should remember psalm 23:4 which says though I walk through the valley of the shadow of darkness I shall fear no evil for thou art with me (favour is with me). Favour is always at work even when we are threatened with death.  Favour is God’s gift to humanity and it is in Christ. When we receive Christ , we receive ALL of God’s favour at once (Jn1:14) and He never withdraws it from us (Rom.11:29) however, we can lose touch of it through our unbelief . Every act of obedience to God's word makes His favour visible. The anointing of God's favour is upon you now and remains with you forever (psalm 103:17)
Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive for my sins against you, I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation, I receive him as lord and saviour and receive grace for extraordinary financial favours in Jesus name.
