GOD IS NOT ANGRY WITH SINNERS : HE LOVES THEM

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
Luke 15:20 "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."
Isa 54:9KJV.says".. I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee." this scriptures says God does not hate the sinner . Jesus Christ received on His person during His crucifixion all the punishment and anger meant   for all sinners including the unborn as a demonstration of God's love for the sinner. Sin kills by gradually drowning its victim .The world is in  Chaos because of sin. Jesus Christ pities the sinner and sicks for ways to save and reconcile them back to God. Like the case of the prodigal , He longs to receive the sinner into His household of grace.John 3:17NIV says "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
The only authentic solution to sin is a universal pardon . Man is imperfect and we cannot attain perfection in God through an imperfect path. Religion is man's idea for salvation and it is fraught with inconsistencies, promotes hatred and results in slavery and death.Jesus seeks a relationship with God not religion  and  longs to cleanse and receive the repented sinner who comes to Him for forgiveness
This parable was an indictment on the religious folks of Jesus' time for their brutal, insensitive, self-righteous and unforgiving attitude towards sinners. The older brother in this parable symbolizes religious bigots who subject themselves to a life of abstinence, depriving themselves a life of adventure and they think that others who did not measure up to their standards were surely hated by God ( Col2:19-23). But God loves the world without reservation   and "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."
The self-centered, jealous and unforgiving older brother was definitely not operating in the love of God , they love themselves more than they do the sinners.  They resented Jesus  for giving sinners the love that the Pharisees thought they deserved. The Pharisees prized their inconsequential and infinitesimal denominational  rules and regulations more than a relationship with the Heavenly Father therefore it was never part of their agenda to rejoice with the returning sinner.
The pursuit of a life of vanity deprived both brothers of an opportunity of discovering the intensity of God's love .  The father needs one thing only: a relationship, which ironically was being supplied by the publicans and sinners who repented   , the Pharisees were preoccupied with pleasing and receiving honour from men rather than seeking a relationship with God  .
We should always pray to develop a healthy relationship with the father.
Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me for my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation, I receive him as lord and saviour and receive grace to overcome the pains of rejection in Jesus name'
