SPIRITUAL IMPLICATIONS OF REBELLION AGAINST PARENTS

“Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Deuteronomy 5:16 NLT

  “Suppose a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father or mother, even though they discipline him. In such a case, the father and mother must take the son to the elders as they hold court at the town gate. The parents must say to the elders, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious and refuses to obey. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of his town must ... In this way, you will purge this evil from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid." Deuteronomy 21:18‭-‬21 NLT Bible 

       The old testament prescribed capital punishment for rebellion against one's parents , this may not apply in the new testament however , it shows the extent to which God values the law of family honour. 

   The family is the building block of the society , therefore, societal reform must begin at the family level with the husband as head . National orderliness is directly proportional to the orderliness in the individual families that constitute the nation. 

  The state of the  families which make up a society is reflected in the sociopolitical and economic status of a nation . National development is  hindered by families where rebellion is celebrated . Rebellion is learnt from a rebellious parent . Rebekah taught her son Jacob rebellion against his father Isaac and this produced a rebellious Israeli nation overtime genetically. (Genesis 27; Deut.9:6)  Teaming up with one parent to fight the other parent destroys your future . This is a major cause of marital failure .

    Rebellious families are synonymous with wastage of resources and opportunities. Businesses run by families with obedient children  tend to have lesser cost of production resulting in higher profits and  it is easier to institute continuity and sustainable development under such circumstances . 

   Faith in God is frustrated where there is rebellion in a family . An investigation on those who patronize false prophets , witches and wizards will reveal the majority as coming from families where rebellion is the order of the day . It gives Satan the advantage over the church of Christ .

   Rebellion reduces a persons capacity to receive the gospel , rebels struggle to sit under teachers of sound doctrine preferring a short cut process to success that's why they easily fall victim to false prophets. 

     This is as a result of disconnection from one's parents . The scriptures says " Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old." Proverbs 23:2‭, ‬22 NLTBible 

    It is difficult relating with ones spouse while disconnected with ones parents. It is the reason behind many failed marriages that's why attempts should made prayerful to reconcile our spouses with their parents.  Children tend to emulate their parent's attitude towards their parents. Rebellious parents produce rebellious children who grow to become a major source of grief to the society . 

   Jesus taught  us to honour our parents and provide for them . ( Matthew 15;4-6,Mark 7:10-13) It is an abomination to curse one's parents, it comes with disastrous consequences . Great faith for breakthroughs is a reward of a strong family bond where the law of family honour is upheld this was the secret to Timothy's success in  . "I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you." 2 Tim1:5 NLT BIBLE .  

  Prayer

Heavenly father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Ghost and power to heal troubled families in Jesus name.
