GOD ISN'T IMPRESSED BY RELIGION

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi

John 9:34 "They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out."

Religious folks have a problem with pride  manifested in the "I-know-it-all" attitude as revealed in this statement. They are so blinded by their arrogance and presumptuousness that they couldn't believe anyone who hadn't been through their "Disciples training school" could ever teach them anything.
The Pharisees were an exclusive sect with extreme devotion to the Mosaic law and commitment to living an isolated life. They are by- products of Jewish returnees from the Babylonian captivity, and were influenced by the pagan customs of the Babylonians. It was set up to give the Jewish state an identity and cultural  foundation upon which moral codes premised on the Mosaic laws where instituted .
They were patriots and religious zealots. However, over time the Pharisees deviated from the Mosaic law replacing it with their own interpretations of these Holy Laws: interpretations which they held to be God-inspired and equal to that of Moses.  They where characterized by hypocrisy, deceit , avarice and self-righteousness. They persecuted Jesus and His followers and received Jesus's rebukes publicly.
Many people today like the Pharisees, are ignorant of achieving right standing (righteousness) with God by the simple act of accepting His forgiveness by grace through faith (Eph2:8) in Jesus Christ and are trying to earn salvation by their own efforts. We cannot fulfill God's commands (Gal2:16, Rom. 3:23) only Jesus can (Heb. 4:15). Therefore, to be righteous, we must put our faith in His promise to save us by His work on the cross. Receive grace for freedom from satanic cults and guilt as you read this now in Jesus name.
