FIRST THINGS FIRST: AND EVERYTHING FALLS INTO PLACE

FIRST THINGS FIRST: AND EVERYTHING FALLS INTO PLACE
Luke 10:40 - "But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me."
The  object of all human pursuits is the sense of fulfillment and peace .  Peace is defined as a stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when there’s no fighting or war, everything coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom.
Our needs are insatiable . We are made to  believe in the early stages of our lives that peace is guaranteed  if we had more money, education, social recognition, or got married with children and being active in a faith based initiative or religious group. But contrary to all expectations, non of these can truly guarantee a life of lasting peace. It is a chasing after the wind.
Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit only received through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Global insecurity is on the increase despite the improvements  in commerce , medicine, agriculture and technology because man thinks he can achieve peace without a personal relationship based on experiential knowledge, wisdom and understanding of God.
In Luke 10:  Martha, an influential Christian woman whose  brother named Lazarus, Jesus raised from the dead, and her sister Mary hosted Jesus Christ and His ministry team to dinner but Mary preferred to spend the time listening to Jesus’ teachings . Like most of us, Martha had issues with  misplaced  priorities on the occasion of Jesus’ visit and she was  corrected by Him. In a similar circumstance,  in Mattew26:6-13, while Jesus was having supper in the  home of Simon the leper , Martha was once again engrossed in serving while Mary her sister worshipped Jesus by anointing His feet with a very costly perfume.

Martha was acquainted with Jesus Christ’s divinity being the first one to run and meet Jesus when He came to their home after the death of Lazarus. She was over acquainted with Christ.  Martha was as much as a disciple as the other disciples but had issues with misplaced priorities. Jesus said in John 4:34 KJV “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work” He had His priorities well spelt out: to make the will of the Father known to all. Therefore , it was expected of Martha to take advantage of Jesus’ visits to learn more about  God’s kingdom . True worshippers like Mary are sensitive to the Master’s will and are quick to respond to His call. There are so many like Martha in the church who presume that by being workaholics,  their partners will be impressed . They soon give up when nobody takes notice  and are easily frustrated in relationships. People should be love at their own terms just like a baby desires to be rocked back and forth whenever he or she cries for attention.
Nothing should take the place of seeking first the kingdom of God in our lives, unfortunately , many people today are occupied with things that keep them from hearing the words of Jesus. As good as these assignments may seem , they are of no value when not well prioritized . A good thing done at the wrong time automatically translates in to being a bad thing. As you read this , receive grace and wisdom to put the first thing first in your family in Jesus name.
