MAKING YOUR CALLING AND ELECTION SURE ( Part 1)

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi
2 Peter 1:10 AMP  “ Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.”
Matt 22:14 KJV “ For many are called, but few are chosen.”
The scriptures teach that all believers in Jesus Christ have been called to perform one or more functions in His vineyard, however not all are chosen. It is like being a professional footballer for the national team. The fact that a player once played for the national football team does not mean he or she will always be invited to star in all competitions involving the national team.
As a player one is expected to be fit and well experienced to feature at the international stage because so much is at stake. The reputation of the country could be dragged to the mud by an ill-mannered player. Therefore, the coach is expected to invite all prospective players to camp and select those who are able to play according to strategic planning and according to the rules of the game.
Likewise, the church of Jesus Christ has coaches in the form of what is popularly known as the five –fold ministry gifts . The phrase ‘Five-fold’ is often misinterpreted to mean they are the only gifts available in the church but looking at the scriptures, it is far from the truth.
The five –fold gifts are actually the five major faculties in the institution known as the church. Like in most universities, a faculty has many departments under it . For instance, the faculty of engineering has the departments of Marine, Electrical, Aeronautical ,Civil , Mechanical , Robotics , chemical petrochemical engineering among others likewise , the church has  the following faculties  and they are the foundation upon which the church rests  (1corinthians 3:10) the scriptures says in Eph 4:4-15 AMP  [There is] one body and one Spirit — just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received —  [There is] one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Therefore it is said, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive [He led a train of vanquished foes] and He bestowed gifts on men. [Ps 68:18.] ..
And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be APOSTLES (special messengers), some PROPHETS (inspired preachers and expounders), some EVANGELISTS (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some PASTORS (shepherds of His flock) and TEACHERS.  …. His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ's body (the church),   [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ's own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.
So then, we may no longer be children, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering   with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead.  .. Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). “
Prayer : Heavenly father , forgive me of my sins against you , I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation , I receive Him as my lord and savior and receive grace and wisdom to discover my calling and be effective in it in Jesus name.
